oscar took a dive because he knew bhop knew the real boxing world knew there was noway he could beat bernard. so instead of taken his chances and getting his ass whooped he make an agreement with bhop. to let him carry oscar throughout the fight and end it with a little body shot. in return oscar save face he tried to challenge the undisputed middleweight champion of the world and lost but he put up a good fight. bhop gains more name and value also a partnership with goldenboy both win win situation

I don't think he took a dive, but I do think he quit. He just didn't get up, because he knew he wasn't going to win. Why would he take a dive to promote Hopkins? That makes absolutely no sense what so ever. Hopkins was/is way older, and far and away less marketable. Normally, wouldn't you take a dive to further elevate an upcoming talent? Doesn't make sense. He just quit.

I feel exactly the same. It's like they only watch boxing to criticize it.

But with that said, that DLH KD looked extremely fake. Probably the only fight in recent years that I legitimately thought was fixed. The punch looked so light, it's funny.

and of course it be a close up weak looking body shot to send oscar down. its funny cuz i recall oscar corner calling for the shot yet bhop landed it. why not a head shot? because it would be harder to fake. that body shot was hella weak and when else have you seen bhop stop someone with a body shot?

then a week later they buddy buddy partners. bhop carried the fight made oscar look good without beating him up and stoped him with a weak setup body shot.
compare that bodyshot with the other bodyshot stoppages in boxing past decades and you see bhop is the weakest one. its not that he hit oscar soft it was how he threw it real short real slow and weak and oscars reaction just sold it for me
nah its just cause Bhop is a cautious fighter, Oscars speed was making him a little on edge at first untill he realized Oscar couldn't hurt him.

If you look at body shots throughout the history of boxing, Castillo-Hatton, Jones-Hill, Cotto-Foreman, and most recently Cayo-Maidana and Bute-Andrade that's just to name a few. You look at those and compare them to Hopkins-De La Hoya, you would be like "Yeah right". I don't really blame any one for thinking that fight was fixed. The punch was like a little tap.

I like how kev is the body punch expert now

I've seen tons of body shot knock downs and ko's and half the time they don't appear to hurt at all, but if you've ever been hit by one you know it's not about how it looks its about how it feels.

Also, the argument that hopkins became a partner with oscar after the fight must mean a conspiracy, lets not forget mosley became a partner with oscar too after beating him.

There is no proof here. The only thing people got is that it doesn't look that hard of a shot to them but that means nothing in boxing.
