No one knows except Manny and the other congressmen in the Philippines....so all we can go off of is what we hear in interviews and read in articles.
Aren't the congressional sessions in the Philippines usually off in June and July?

    Careful w your response, please.

Hes a trophy basically. Like when big corporates hire an ex star athlete.
      Maybe your right.

I'm just the type of person who gives people the benefit of the doubt.

If Manny says that his duties will resistrict the dates in which he can fight....then I believe him.

Just like when Floyd said it's important to clear up his legal issues before taking on Manny. Maybe his legal issues are more serious than most people think....which is why I'm also giving him a pass and the benefit of a doubt

        I really hope they are.

I would love to see Manny fight three times this year.

I mean they were off last summer and Manny was contemplating fighting a tuneup last summer after the Clottey fight.

If you got proof they will be off this summer as well, please post it.

I say this because I would love to see him face Marquez or Bradley in the summer...especially since I think Mosley will be an easy fight for him.

Actually, fratello, I do not think that is a good comparison.

Floyd is facing a lengthy prison sentence. He is on the OPPOSITE side of the law as Manny is. manny is a lawmaker. In this instance, Floyd is a defendant. The Clark County DA is clearly salivating at getting Floyd.

And the rigors and structure of the US legal system (with all due respect) are substantially different than the philippines.

              True and I agree.

Still I'm the type to give people the benefit of a doubt. If Manny says his obligations are important etc.....then I believe him.

If you don't.....cool, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I just don't see why Manny would lie about this.

BTW did you have that link to them having a break during the summer? Please post it as that would really make my day.

Gonzales said the famed boxer has been the first and only recipient of the medal, which was created by the previous (14th) Congress.

Despite the absence of more than a dozen lawmakers who flew to the United States to watch the fight, the House was able to muster a quorum with 178 members. It was, however, the lowest attendance recorded for the 278-member chamber since the 15th Congress began in July.

The conferment of the Congressional Medal of Distinction was contained in House Resolution 625 authored by Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr., Gonzales and Minority Leader and Albay Representative Edcel Lagman.

The distinction honors Pacquiao “for becoming the first professional boxer in history to capture eight world titles in eight different divisions,” the resolution said.

Because of his fresh feat, Pacquiao is now considered “the greatest boxer of all time, even surpassing the legendary careers of boxing greats such as Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard and Oscar dela Hoya,” it added.

                ------------------------------------------------------

The congressional sessions in the Philippines begin in July, and are generally wrapping up by Late may or June.

In fact, all of Pacquiao's recent fights have been DURING the Congressional sessions - not on a break. And many active congresspeople have flow to his fights.

                Those are just facts.

I won't even comment on the fact that victories over Margarito now leapfrog you past Ali and SRL because you have more titles.

June/July is the unofficial off-season for boxing. What major fights have taken place during the summer months ?

The Constitution provides that the Congress shall convene for its regular session every year beginning on the 4th Monday of July. A regular session can last until thirty days before the opening of its next regular session in the succeeding year. The President may, however, call special sessions which are usually held between regular sessions to handle emergencies or urgent matters.

I generally agree with you. But since you asked:

                      Tyson-Lewis : 2 million PPV buys

a bunch os other PPV's as well.
