Top Rank is still on Top

Golden Boy is Behind by a margin but not that much. They have hit more bumps in the past 2 years then Top Rank. But with Ortiz they have built him back up with his recent wins since Maidana. They got Khan going in the right direction if he gets past the power of Maidana and it will show Khan can fight punchers with all his recent fighters being against feather fisted fighters or boxers. They kind of screwd Marquez since the floyd fight and let him be a non compeitive fighter against floyd and told manny marquez should get 50/50. Alvarez looks to have a bright future. Jacobs got knocked out but can they rebound him?

I have always found people to hard on GBP and HBO for what they put on to be honest, because Top Rank does worse and they never get talked about.

When was the last time the best fights on HBO live came from Top Rank and not GBP, I can't even remember the last time Top Rank even had a memorable fight on HBO it might have been Manny Pacquiao?

I watch solo boxeo I don't find it superior to what GBP does on HBO.

I would say you are holding them to different standards.

a couple years ago, TR looked like it was going under and putting on horrible cards because TR was rebuilding their stable.

I am not even going to start with you as I am about to step out but I never though Top Rank was about to go out.

Top Rank is fine and will be fine, I don't think they are that great and they really do very little for me as a fan of the sport.

I prefer the way GBP operates and feel they put out the better product on a regular basis.

In reality both are not all that different and it is a matter of picking and choosing what you like.

You can compare them to each other until we are all blue and the face and we will get no where but compare them to any other promoter and it is no argument. To me that is why the premise of the thread is flawed, you can argue one is better and even believe it but there is not much in it either way.

The highest rating on HBO boxing has come from a top rank card. Not a GBP card and that is funny when you think about it because GBP has so many more HBO dates than what Top Rank does.

Top Rank also had a good double header to kick off the year with in Lopez-Luevano/Gamboa-Mtagwa, they also put on Pavlik-Martinez on HBO. Rios-Peterson was a good fight and on paper was a damn good fight with 2 undefeated prospects going at in. And, Gamboa-Salido "unification" was the main event of that card.

Again that is all the dates Top Rank had that I know off on HBO. Top Rank has had 4 dates(not including Pac PPV's) on reg HBO and GBP will have damn near 4 dates in Nov and Dec alone on regular HBO. Top Rank had that all year. And, really I can't say which date disappointed from Top Rank on HBO. Can you?

And, we don't have to look at just the HBO product...We can look at the way they develop fighters. Or the way Top Rank goes in their pocket to make sure their fighters stay active...Something that you not really giving Top Rank too much credit for.

As a overall promotional company Top Rank is better than Golden Boy.

Not giving them credit for having less date at all. Which you think is mediocrity which is fine your opinion. However, I have enjoyed their shows more than GBP. The only GBP shows I have really enjoyed where Jacobs-Pirog which wasn't the main event and JMM-Katsidis which only the main event was theirs. Dibella had the 2 undercards...

But as an overall show, I have enjoyed none of them. Top Rank on the other hand I have.

You said that Top Rank should not get credit for doing their job. But, yet they're the only promotional outfit that are doing their job. So WTF are you talking about?

You saying if Top Rank promises HBO better fights than they would get more dates. Well GBP didn't promise them **** only just Oscar would fight on HBO against Forbes so they could cut a deal with HBO to receive blind dates. And, their shows by the most part have been whack.

The only show that has any potential of being a good card. Is there next week card. But, when was the last time they had a card like this on HBO? It has been awhile....Top Rank pretty much had 2 of these this year...
