  • You can't deny, Top Rank > GBP

I remember a few years back when GBP started everyone said that they were going to save boxing that Top Rank and Don King were going down etc. The real deal is that Top Rank owns GBP. Bob is the Dana White of boxing.

I remember about 3-4 years ago, GBP had some serious momentum and it looked like they would steamroll the competition, but that momentum has been severely stunted, and I agree that Top Rank is still holding on to the top spot.

I find it offensive that you compared a damn legend in boxing, Bob Arum, to a joke like Dana White.

Say what you want about what Arum has done over the past few years, but he has done wonders for the sport through the decades.

Certainly doesn't deserve to be compared to some **** like White.

top rank just knows how to do business.

all gbp had was they pretty much used oscar's influence as the biggest draw and a couple of other top fighters at the time to get sweet deals with the casinos and networks.

all good when oscar is the top draw and hopkins , mosley , etc. were champions.

but with those guys gone pretty much , they don't have much left because of how their prospects didn't pan out.

top rank on the other knows how to bring up their fighters.

they turn prospects into contenders , contenders into champions and champions into stars.

just look at what they did recently.

look at all the fighters top rank has lost. delahoya , mayweather , etc.

they lose them and top rank is still going strong.

top rank was at the top of the business 30-40 years before people even knew who the **** pacquiao was.

Golden Boy's PPV Undercards > Top Rank PPV Undercards.

Golden Boy put on the two best events of the year as a whole: Mayweather-Mosley and Marquez-Katsidis. They both had solid undercards and were enjoyable, correctly matched event.

Top Rank gave us Pac/Clottey and Pac/Margarito. And some Julio Cesar Chavez Jr PPV fights.

Golden Boy has had some bad events this year, but Uncle Bob's PPV undercards are always deplorable.

And? Top rank has got the biggest star but GBP has got most of the other PPV draws. Once Pacquiao is gone what's top rank got left? Cotto, JCC jr.

Golden boy has been around for less than a decade and Top Rank has been rocking it for almost half a century. The thing that makes me wonder is what are they going to do when 80 year old Bob kicks the bucket (touch would, we all hope he has another 40 years of promoting left in him but lets be real).

DeBouf is obviously being groomed into the position, but no one puts on a show and blows up a miss-match like big bad Bob
