Sugar Ray Leonard vs Donnie Lalonde.

    Look it up.

Catchweights were done since way back in they day, yeah, but Pacquiao is the catchweight king of this era. If there is ever a boxing dictionary, and the word catchweight is in there, they should show a picture of Manny Pacquiao on the side

Guys are willing to kill themselves making weight at this point to get a shot at the money Pacquiao brings to the table?

Saying "they agreed to it, so its fair" is ridiculous.
Why wouldn't it be fair? Catchweights are there to "even" out the handicaps...how can you possibly match a Welterweight and Middleweight for example without the compromise? Both sides have to give up something and "meet in the middle"...

It's not like a daytime robbery. Pacquiao being smallish for example being pitted to Margarito....how else are you going to make the fight fair?

Or it is just because suddenly there's an ASIAN champion because Americans have been doing catchweights forever!

anyone here knows the record for catchweight fights?

lets see how really beneficial it is for a guy going up in weight to ask a guy bigger than him to lose a few pounds

That is not what you said, I like that you're switching your argument...

Since you found out that there has been catch-weight title fights before Pac even turned pro...

And, Diamond belt is not really a belt, is more of a trophy... You don't defend that belt, there was no rankings, no mandatory. Pascal-Hopkins is for the Diamond belt...Again that just a belt-like trophy that the winner is going get. Is not a belt going to defend.

                  Here's a solution: IT DOESN'T HAPPEN.
How about you the challenger squeeze in the champions (or visa versa) LEGIT weight class and earn his way up a fight or two, whatever it takes to be comfortable at the weight?

Or we can let it all go to ****, Have featherweights catchweight fighting Heavyweights, etc.

Or if your name is Bernard Hopkins who has had more catch-weight fights than Pac has.

It happened twice. Only one more time than Mayweather.
