When pac retires and Floyd comes home from vacation and calls pac out, the whole world will be led to believe that pacquiao ducked mayweather
Martinez and Berto don't even bother calling out Mayweather..

I'm not an alt. Ask a mod to check for you.
Delegitimize? The belts mean nothing, and that's not been caused by Pacquiao. That was caused, years ago, by endless squabbling, stripping and the advent of "Super" and "Emeritus" titles. Pac's legacy maybe built on alphabet titles to the kind of people who believe everything they read in the paper, but to me it's built on quality of opposition, manner of victory and his ability to move through weight classes.
And as I said to the other guy. If you think Margarito was an easy night's work, you've been spending way too much time on the Internet, buying into your own hype and becoming deluded by other keyboard warriors.

Read what I wrote for content, not just to read it. I never said Pac is the reason behind the watered down belts. At the same time, Pac is furthering the problem by asking for catchweight title bouts. At some point in time, you have to say enough is enough and fight for the belts at their specified weight limits. Yes, there is an alphabet belt system, but what Pac is doing is further degrading them. Why make a crappy system even more laughable? No matter how you want to cut it, Pac will remembered in history as the only boxer to win "8 titles in 8 different divisions." He is forever set apart from Ray Robinson and Ali, who Arum already claims is not as good as Pac. Later mainstream

The belts are small fry compared to the real problems boxing is facing. Such as fighters like Andre Berto and Andre Dirrell behaving like prima donna superstars before they've put in the ground work. The best not fighting the best and the prospect of HBO and Showtime losing interest completely.
Oh, and the small matter of the biggest fight of our generation not happening. For whatever reason.Comment

Antonio Margarito wouldn't have been a good matchup even if Manny fought him at 154 with no catchweight. He hadn't won a significant fight in decades, was last seen coddling with ringsiders the last time he fought an elite fighter and looked like **** against a journeyman in his so-called "tuneup." But I guess his past glory made it ok. Like I said, Manny should fight Terry Norris next. His dumbass fans would buy it anyway.Comment

I am pretty sure Floyd is fighting no one so why stress him, I am certainly not stressing his legal issues.
Manny is actually setting up a fight, so i care somewhat about what he does. I have my expectations set low though so I will not be disappointed.Comment

The fact is the whole scenario is hilarious. Pacquiao beats everyone put in front of them, therefore people will be quick to pick some flaws in his opponent since they wanted Pacquiao to lose! He's never going to be able to please everyone until he's beaten.
Berto
Marquez
Mosley
Will all get destroyed. He'll smash Berto to smitherines if he fights him. I'll have a giggle after his haters are proved wrong yet again.Comment

The point is a title won without the intention of comitting to it as it's not a reasonable weight for the fighter. Plus Pac's already jumped up several weight classes on top of the two that you want him to now. In this comparison, Pac starting at flyweight is to Roy starting professionally at junior welterweight. So no it's not the same. Considering where they started, you'd be asking far more of Pac.Comment
