ppl come on here and complain about ward fighting in oakland. well guess what??? where was calzaghe fighting at this time in his career??? when was the last time lucian bute fought away from canada??? ppl just dont like the guy because of his style and because they are insecure bute/calzaghe fans. that or they are pro ero fighters...lmao, whatever that means.
not completely. some of us like ward but also realise this is a tournament and agree that it is only fair that all participants fight in neutral locations and not have homecourt advantage for every fight

Ward "Sucking" which is a childish WWE teen fans slant, and being boring isn't part of the criteria for being great.

              .
Ward has not surpassed Calzaghe, yet. They both beat Kessler and Bika. Calzaghe shutout Lacy; Ward did the same to Green. Calzaghe's victory was more impressive since he was the underdog and Lacy was an undefeated world champion. Ward was expected to beat Green, just not that easily. Calzaghe's victories over Jones and Hopkins don't really count, he beat two forty year olds who knocked him down in the very first round. But credit must be given to his victory over a 31 year old Eubanks. Eubanks was past his prime, but he wasn't old which is why he was the favorite in that fight. Ward doesn't have a comparable victory. If Ward wins the tournament by beating the two strongest punchers at 168 - Abraham and Froch - then I would say his resume is better. Right now Calzaghe still has the edge.
Hopkins the 175 champ doesn't count? Calzaghe beat Kessler 2 years before Ward did and Bika 4 years before Ward did. Both were much better obviously back then. Even if Ward beat Abraham and Froch his resume would not be better, what about Brewer, Mitchell, Veit, Reid,Woodhall all world champions Calzaghe beat?

thats nice and all but the fact is the location determined nothing in any of the fights ward has fought in oakland. he was so far ahead in every single fight that even if the refs or judges were "corrupt" it wouldnt have mattered. the fact is ppl complain about **** to complain. i can see if ward robbed one of the fighters he fought, but he didnt.

Let's be objective hear. Hopkins doesn't count; Calzaghe barely beat him and Hopkins was 43, Calzaghe was 36. What do you think would have happened if Calzaghe faced a 36 year old Hopkins? The one who beat Trinidad into retirement. And Kessler and Bika weren't any better or worse when Calzaghe fought them. Kessler was the tournament favorite when Ward beat him, Bika is still the strong but limited fighter today as when he fought Calzaghe. As for Brewer, Mithcell, Veit, Reid, and Woodhall, those are all top fighters at a domestic level but they're not exactly world class. Bika isn't world class either, but I only mentioned him b/c he fought both fighters.
