    Andre Ward is much too dirty a fighter....against a fresh, 31 year old Bika Calzaghe beat Bika and showboated, Ward fought a 35 year old one and resorted to dirty tactics.

      Calzaghe even admits out of his own mouth that he's not as good as his fans make him out to be. He says he'd get his ass kicked if he kept going. Translation = No more has been fighters that HBO would've been able to feed him after his fight with Roy Jones tanked on PPV. So it was either fight the best or retire and he chose the latter.

        And Calzaghe hasn't? He beat a prime, undefeated Kessler ffs. I doubt Ward will ever have a win like that in his whole career. The Kessler he beat was not prime, still a very good fighter, but not prime. There's no denying that Kessler hasn't been the same since losing to Joe. He's fought unknowns like Sartison, Haussler and Perdomo before losing to Ward. He then drew with Froch (I scored the fight a draw).

        Calzaghe beat prime versions of Kessler, Lacy, Reid and Bika. He also had wins over former lineal champ Mitchell, beat Eubank, Woodhall, Sheika, Veit.

        People can say all they want how Calzaghe didn't fight prime-Hopkins or prime-Jones Jnr, but they same can be said about them - they didn't fight a prime-Calzaghe. And when they did finally fight, Calzaghe won. And you can't say that the win over Hopkins wasn't impressive considering that Hopkins then went on to take Pavlik's soul a few months after Calzaghe beat him. Hopkins was the lineal champ at LHW when they fought and he's still fighting today, and many are fancying him against Pascal.

        Calzaghe beat 8 world titlists, a few interim titlists and 2 lineal champs. He was lineal champ at 168 and 175 and is an ATG.

        calzaghe is much better than all the super middleweights out there bar Bute
        People are hyping up Bute, but a past-prime 2007 Calzaghe (35 years old) would have beaten him.

        I think Joe meant that 'Father Time catches up with everyone, he was past-prime and he knew it. Why would he risk his legacy and health by fighting when he knew he wasn't as good as he used to be? He made enough money and accomplished enough. He was in good condition but he was losing his speed, power and reactions - why fight when you're losing your ability to box. He admitted himself that he was losing interest in boxing and was becoming lazy and wasn't training as hard.

        A Prime-Calzaghe beats any Prime-Super-Middleweight ever, including Ottke, James Toney, Collins, Benn, Liles, Eubank, Chong-Pal Park, Andre Ward, Carl Froch, Kessler (who lost to a past-prime Calzaghe!), Lucian Bute, Andre Dirrell.

        Calzaghe = Super-Middleweight GOAT

                I think Ward still has a ways to go to pass Calzaghe. Perhaps if he's unbeaten after this long tourney is done. We will have to see.
