Think about it....Hagler first of all had a hard time with Vito Antuofermo, and couldn't take the title from him the first time. Vito is a natural 147 or 154 pound fighter, much smaller than Hagler. I know, Marvin Hagler switched up styles after that fight, but if Hagler tried to brawl with Calzaghe he'd have an even harder time?

Also, Calzaghe is a much bigger sized fighter than Leonard, who beat Hagler too. Calzaghe is fast and he's very good defensively.
Of course your neglecting to take into consideration Calzaghes abject cowardice....he wouldve ran a mile from Hagler like he did everyone in his own time.

Cant believe some of the stuff Ive read in this thread about Calzaghe, **** like...he had a great chin...when he was dropped by a older Hopkins and shot Jones and Byron Mitchell (whom he totally lucked out against) he hasnt fought anyone of note at all, his whole career is a farce.

Leonard only had one bout in 5 years and if anything, Leonard was the fighter who was past prime.

Calzaghe would have beaten Hagler on pts in one hell of a fight.

And Joe Calzaghe knows how to do that.

LOL, Thomas Hearns was a frontrunner, the Paul Williams of that day.

I wasn't a Calzaghe fan back then, I criticized his ability and punching technique. But history judges differently.

Well Calzaghe took a while to get his career going but what he did in the last few years was a pretty good run.

Hopkins only put him down first of all by running away the whole fight, and then on that right hand was more of a push.

Also, Roy Jones was pretty well-hyped for the Calzaghe fight then....everybody on here was saying Jones would KO Calzaghe...

The record speaks for itself....Lacy, Bika, Manfredo (not a big win), Kessler, Hopkins, Jones

46 have tried, 46 all had a gameplan and failed.

Look, guys he fought are still getting title shots!

              Bika, Kessler, Hopkins....

Thats Funny, your comparing Hearns to Williams?..neither of them are or were front runners..The only thing they have in common is that there both tall fighters, Hearns would put a beating on Calazaghe as well.

Calzaghe schools Hagler worse than Willie Munroe did.
