And the short answer to your question is no. If you mean Old Hagler, or Green Hagler, against a Calzaghe at the top of his game, maybe. Though Calzaghe is no Leonard. But prime for prime? No way, Hagler mops him.
Kelly Pavlik had a much easier time with Jermain Taylor than Bernard Hopkins did.

Its not hard to see that Pavlik is the better fighter.

Calzaghe fought Kessler when he was undefeated..... much different.

Calzaghe took who Marvin Hagler personally called P4P top 5 at the time (Jeff Lacy) and absolutely destroyed him.

There is no doubt in my mind Calzaghe beats Marvin HAgler. Marvin's a good ifghter but people always love to overrate past fighters.

By the same token it seems that everyone seems to overrate white fighters....

At 168 Calzaghe would win. Hagler is the same size of small Middleweights today or Light Middleweights.

                personally I would say no.

some of Haglers best performances were against fellow southpaws, such as his win over lineal champ Alan Minter and his two wins over the very good Mustafa Hamsho. his right hook in particular was a very useful punch for him against southpaws, especially because he could counter with it well when opponents came forward(which would be very useful against someone like Calzaghe).

I dont think Calzaghe's height would be a big deal either, seeing as Hagler dominated a 6'1 Fulgecio Obelmejias twice, who went on to become a world champ at super middleweight.

anyone seen Calzaghe fight another southpaw in the pros, btw?

Calzaghe hasn't done anything to even deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Hagler. Calzaghe was good, that's it. Marvin Hagler was GREAT.
