The thread fails since it assumes that Joe C would ever fight a great ATG prime fighter. Hagler had better foot and handspeed than many think, the lasting image of Hagler in the SRL is a major injustice to him. Hagler was not a dumb brawler who won't fall into Joe C traps. Hagler was actually solid boxer that used both lateral and side to side movement, but of course few would know that in this thread.

Sure hagler would get knocked out in 1 round by Calzaghe. Although never knocked out in 67 professional fights and suffering only 1 questionable flash KD, Joe C who coudlnt finish an old Roy Jones like Tarver and Johnson did before him. would KO Hagler LOL.

Joe would cause him trouble, but i dont think its about size.

Haglers amazing long jab would be a real obstacle for Joe, and i think hagler could hurt him on the inside.

        Interesting match up.

I dont think Calzaghe ever faced anyone as good of an all rounder as prime Hagler. The Hagler Leonard beat was no where near prime.
Hagler was fast at his best.

I think or i hope they were just joking. Hagler in his prime was actually a master boxer who could do it all. He could also switch from Orthodox to Southpaw so smoothly, you could not see the transition, then switch back. He would do whatever it took to give himself the advantage

Just watch at 2:05 on to see how great of a boxer he was

Think about it....Hagler first of all had a hard time with Vito Antuofermo, and couldn't take the title from him the first time. Vito is a natural 147 or 154 pound fighter, much smaller than Hagler. I know, Marvin Hagler switched up styles after that fight, but if Hagler tried to brawl with Calzaghe he'd have an even harder time?

Also, Calzaghe is a much bigger sized fighter than Leonard, who beat Hagler too. Calzaghe is fast and he's very good defensively.
Vito was a tough rough fighter and would give anyone trouble. Robin Reid gave Calzaghe trouble, and Byron Mitchel, Hopkins and Jones were able to hurt Calzaghe.

I think Hagler could also hurt him, and outbox him if he adopted the dancing style he had earlier in his career.
But it could go both ways.

If it was a 12 round fight it could go either way, if it was a 15 round fight than i fancy that Hagler would KO him. He had a great ability to wear down guys, and was a great finisher, if he had Calzaghe down as Hopkins, Jones, Mitchell and Salem did, he would have gone in for the kill.

Really? Cause Andre Ward had a MUCH easier time with Kessler than Calzaghe did. Really, if you watch Ward and Calzaghe in the ring against similar opponents its not hard to see Ward is the better fighter, though he hasnt earned all of his stripes yet.
And the short answer to your question is no. If you mean Old Hagler, or Green Hagler, against a Calzaghe at the top of his game, maybe. Though Calzaghe is no Leonard. But prime for prime? No way, Hagler mops him.
