I have to admit after rewatching Martinez vs Williams II...Sergio has made improvements and is actually punching a lot harder (due to improved technique) than ever.

Still I really like Manny chances in this but the thing is Manny will have 2 fights against guys his own size before making this jump. My only hope is Martinez and Dibella will be patient and wait for this. Not saying dont fight anyone in the mean time....rather take fight for the mean time and try to make it happen a year from now. I really like Dibella's comment on "building this up" because this is a fight that can (and will) happen.

They dug their own grave by going to a higher weight class. Im a pac fan myself but its just wrong for this big guy to pick on this smaller guy. Honestly 150 the guys max which he cant even go up to, so whats wrong fight at 150? and what is wrong with going back to 147?

Its actually a 170lb fighting a 148, Pac has proven me time and time again but he needs to stop or else lightheavyweights will be knocking on his door.

Martinez has a lineal claim to that very belt. Why not fight him if he's willing to come down to 154. He's meeting Pac in his division. Its not like he's asking Pac to come to middleweight. Plus, Margarito is taller and naturally bigger the Maravilla. So to say Pac is too small for Martinez when he wasn't to small for Margarito is a bit hypocritical. Maybe its not about Maravilla being too big. But, its about him being too good. And if that's the case, its ducking.
That belt belongs to Martinez. Pac ain't win it from
him and Pac ain't going to defend it from him. Pac ain't
fighting Martinez. The way Pac is subject to all kinds of
flush punches. Martinez would probably knock his leggo
head off of his shoulders. 5 fights against fighters with
the same style would be kind of hard to get Pac to switch
up at this stage of his career and be effective enought to
beat Martinez. Took Pac the whole fight to beat up on a
defenseless Margarito and Martinez is a moving counter
puncher. Pac would get murdered. If he thought Margarito
hurt him with a body shot, then a flush power shot would
put Manny head in the stands. Not trying to go there no
more about Mayweather because no one knows when or
if he is going to fight again.

        • I dont see either or getting in the ring with him, but Pac and May needs to happen. I read bout Mayweather getting in trouble again, so he should be coming back looking for a fight pretty soon.....

yeah its pretty wierd that all these excuses are coming from them! i mean he has a belt at 154 but they say fighting in the division would be going to far for him?

isnt that what they brag on? 8 divisions 8 titles?

            • In order for this fight happen, both camps need to just ditch the catchweight malarky and let both fighters fight at their preferred weight. Pacquiao purposely came in 5 pounds underweight for the Margarito fight because he admitted that being 150 would make him sluggish and slower and they later said they didn't care if Antonio showed up for the fight weighing 180. So obviously weight is not the issue that Freddie Roach keeps making it out to be. The idea of a catchweight is that it is supposed to be handicap for both fighters to sort of even the playing field. If I'm Martinez, I'd just tell Pacquiao straight up that if he wants a fight then he can fight at his preferred weight but he has to let him fight at his weight and lets get it on.

Naah bro fvkk all of that. Do you know what a win over Martinez will do for Pac's career. I don't wanna throw how far he shoots up the ATG list (because the flaming on my comments will be ridiculous) but he want's to be consider top 5 he has to take the risk guys like Robinson Armstrong and others took.

Martinez to Pacquiao is what the Maxim bout was to Robinson and the Ceferino Garcia bout was to Armstrong. I wanna see Manny mentioned as one of the greatest ever...and it's fights like this that would take him to that level.

If Pac felt that he was so small, then his lil ass should have
stayed at 140/147 and just defended his titles instead of
trying to move up and get another gift title. Now all of sudden
he's too small for Martinez but before Pac was the man beaten
bigger guys? Arum came out immediately and shut the idea
down. Pac wins title at JM but don't want to defend it there?
Goes to show what that Margarito fight was all about.

The only reason I don't want them to wait is cuz' Sergio is already 35... any longer and age will start to catch up with him fast.

If he can fight Margarito, who is just as big as Martinez, I don't see why he can't fight Martinez. Didn't Margarito come in at like 167 or something on fight night?

The better question is "what isnt wrong fighting at 150 for the 154 title"

Going back to 147 is EXACTLY what Pacquiao should do.

                      Martinez isnt a 170lber....
