I hope not but know its probably true. Pac will make a contradicting statement like Sergio's "too big" and then Roach will say Sergio's "too good".

Mayweather will say Sergio who? OR Sergio doesn't sell enough and that PWILL was a joke to begin with and Sergio beat a nobdy (even though Floyd didn't want to fight PWILL).

Pac "ducked" Mayweather and Mosley (when #1 WW)
    Mayweather "ducked" Martinez and PWILL

When will these fan boys see the "bigger" picture?

He is not better than Manny because what manny is doing is dominated guy a lot bigger than Him. Martinez is a career 154lb who just went up and beat to MW. Props to him for that but that is not even comparable to a flyweight moving up and dominating WW's.

You rants are really pathetic because instead of enjoying a great win for Martinez and the Middleweight division....you still have Manny's name on your mind.
This thread is about Martinez commenting on Pacquiao. After the fight, Kellerman asked Martinez about Pacquiao. Start a new thread that doesn't involve Martinez and Pacquiao's name in the same sentence if it bothers you that the two are being posted about. At least your posts aren't bias, though.

I heard this so many times before but they never learn.

Like I said before a pbf vs martinez is something i would gladly pay $100 for it on ppv

True but I think Manny is a little smarter than you think cause he will not fight Martinez, Williams nor PBF. PBF is a long shot but the other 2, NEVER!!! Williams is not wounded enough.

          • Manny is the top guy in the sport right now. So if Sergio Martinez would want to fight Manny Pacquiao, he'd have to burn his muscles down to welterweight. There's no way Manny Pacquiao would climb up to middleweight! Manny Pacquiao's even too small to reach the welterweight limit every time he goes up the scale! And I don't see Sergio Martinez putting himself in the boilling room to sqeeze himself dry down to 147lbs and then fight the best fighter in the world! That's just total madness!!!! It's indeed a mismatch.

            • Ideal weight (lbs) for fighters to fight at this time:

              Pacquiao- 144 to 147
              Mayweather Jr.- 147 to 154
Martinez- 156 to 160 (possibly higher to 168 or lower to 154)

Getting out of this range would be a disadvantage to the fighter. They will either be weight drain (loosing energy) or blimp up (loosing speed).

When Martinez said that Mayweather would be more suitable to fight, he was referring to Mayweather's ability to come closer to his weight class. And when he said Mayweather is a great fighter, he was not inferring to say Mayweather is better than Pacquiao. He was just saying that Mayweather has the ability to come closer to his weight class whom he consider a great fighter. In other words, if Pacquiao can fight to Matinez lower weight class (154 lbs.) as Mayweather can, he would also challenge Manny and would praise him as a great fighter as well because he is. The fact is, at this time, Manny looses speed beyond 148 lbs. Speed is the key to his success. That is also the reason why he refuses to have blood drawn out within certain time before the fight because it weakens him.....undermining his power and speed. Urine test should fulfill that need.

I really want to see Martinez vs Pacquiao because they are both very entertaining to watch. But it is impossible at this time due to Pacquiao's inability to retain speed beyond 148 lbs.

Mayweather vs Pacquiao at 147 lbs or Mayweather vs Martinez at 154 lbs. (or 156 lbs.).

Much respect to Martinez for recognizing these weight limits and avoiding Pacquiao.

Morales is one of my all-time faves but let be real, Mexican fighters are primarily brawlers, very comparable to what Pacquiao is. They rely heavily on their physical abilities more than their technical. Pacman, is gifted with Speed and power but his actual boxing technique I wouldn't call at an elite level.

Marquez was probably the most skilled fighter Pacquiao has ever faced. However, he doesn't fight your typical all out blood and guts style which is why he gave Pacman all he could handle.

This is no shot at Mexican fighters as they have many all-time greats and they probably have the biggest hearts in the sport. I just believe that a true master of boxing relies on technique as much as the physical talents they posses. Martinez has that overall package and Manny has never fought anyone like it.

Personally, I'd give Martinez a far greater chance of beating Mayweather than I would Pacman. Martinez is the real deal.
news flash....Martinez gets hit a lot as well as Marquez. That doesn't take away from their skill just reflect on their defense.

Morales is more skilled than Marquez. I mean if you ever followed both...this should be common knowledge....no offense. Also Morales is more skilled than Martinez. Martinez is the better athlete but Morales is very skilled but most would never know it because they only see HBO highlights of him brawling and think that's all Morales is as a fighter.

                • Come to think of it, Manny Pacquiao is still the Linear Junior Welterweight Champion of the world, and the WBO welterweight champion of the world, and the WBC light-middleweight champion of the world. 3 titles, 3 weight divisions at the same time.

So, if I were Manny Pacquiao, and Sergio would want to cash in on me to fight me, I'd stake my junior welterweight belt on the line and fight him at 140lbs. Manny Pacquiao would easily destroy a weight-drained Sergio Martinez. But.... I'm not Manny Pacquiao.

I agree and I pray that HBO puts money behind him as he is the second coming of Barrera...in the sense that he will face anyone anywhere and always try to put on a good performance. Huge break from guys like Berto and Judah who are stealing HBO's money and putting on ****ty performaces and slected bums as opponents for HBO headliners.

Morales had better physical gifts than Marquez, but i wouldn't call him more skill full when it came to technique.

the majority of Morales fights became slugfests, he was always getting into a war but then again Marquez tends to do the same but to a lesser extent. If Morales was really that gifted he wouldn't have burned out at such a young age.
