they were competitive with each other because none were beat up fighters,,,cotto had never lost when he faced margarito,he took a beating, then clottey hit him a lot too, margarito clottey was years ago, cotto clottey was competitive but please, both took a lot of shots,,,,,so there you have it,they were all softened up and nice and ready for pac, dont forget his catchweights which i think really affected cotto..you must be a huge pac fan if you don't realize this..and just look at who his next fight might be against, mosley, thats right, was his fight with mora any good? was he competitive against mayweather?
All of Pac's fights involve taking a lot of shots. We all know he's easy to hit and he's been that way for all his 50+ fights.. Pac must be really Soft now, nice and ready for his opponents..
Pac was stopped early in his career. He also took a lot of shots from Marquez--twice. He allowed Clottey to come in and open up on him, as he had done with Cotto. He took their best punches and then had them from breakfast. He deserves credit for that. You know what weight Pac was fighting at when Margarito first started fighting at 147? I'm a Pac fan yes, but not in the way you think. I think his rise through weight classes rapidly and dominating naturally bigger fighters is ****ing impressive. He's only a been a welterweight for about 2 years, while Floyd has been one since 2005, and he's fought guys who were highly ranked, or held belts at one time or another and dominated all of them. That's all you can ask of a fighter. He performs his job, while other guys make excuses and have been at that weight (147) far longer than he has...period.
So then by virtue of your last comment, do you give Mayweather credit for beating Shane? When Shane had struggled badly with Mayorga?
I completely agree with you. The problem with the person you are arguing with is that he is biased towards Manny.
If Manny were Mexican, he would be singing his praises.
I am color blind, I don't care where you are from or what color you are or whether I like you or not.
I give credit where it is due. But when you are biased, it is difficult to do.
And you are completely biased against Manny since you can barely give him any credit for any of his wins. If we go by your criteria very few fighters would get any props from you. According to your criteria, any fighter who has lost is a broken down, beaten, useless fighter, so any solid win would come against an undefeated fighter.
Your logic makes no sense.
You can't give credit to a fighter that has down something that no fighter in the history of the sport has done. And we're talking about 120 years here.
Just admit, you're biased against Manny.
Listen, I don't like Mayweather, I think he's an ******, and I think he's taken many soft touches in the past 8 years or so, but do I recognize the man's greatness and skill.
if they going to say you are number one for facing fighters like that, yeah,i'll criticize that, you don't have to beat undefeated fighters all the time, but don't face has beens like manny has for the last few fights and then say he's number one....and again i'll criticize him if he does fight mosley
actually its the opposite just because your an african american doesnt mean your slick martinez is more slick than wiilams please dont compare martinez with pac because there both lefties serg can box unlike pac who has no defense and is a bigger cherry picker than floyd its not his fault its his management but its still cherry picking pac will fight serg at 145 lol!!!!!
yeah but mayweather fought him when shane was on a winning streak, pac will fight him,if he does, when mosley is on a losing streak, big difference...say what you want, but recently pac has been fighting guys who just lost or looked bad,,,so what if he took their best punches, they(opponents of pac) werent at their best. and if he does face shane, there can't possibly be any legitimate reason to say he is awesome for beating him, only thing good for that fight will be money
Lol what winning streak? He had trouble with Mayorga. And even though he had won a few fights, they were far from dominant or impressive. So in other words you'd give Mayweather credit for his win over Shane. But if Pac fought him and stopped him, then you'd have a "built-in" excuse? By the way since your whole theory hinges on "winning streaks"--Mayweather fought Judah after Judah was coming off a loss. Baldomir had how many losses? How many wars and losses did Gatti have prior to facing Floyd? Your whole explanation is flawed, when you look at the inverse.

Why was Clottey a has been??
Again, there are many people, outside of P.R. of course, who thought Clottey won that fight.
And there are some people who also thought Clottey beat Margarito.
Your logic and consistency falls apart every time you post.
Clottey was not a has been. No one dominated Clottey. No one had beaten up Clottey.
The only person who completely dominated Clottey was Manny. A little guy who had been moving up from 112. What is not to admire?

dude,i'm not a fan of mayweather either, and i don't think mosley was the mosley of old when he fought floyd,my point is,pac has fought has beens, period, and if you say floyd has fought guys coming off loses, fine, just include manny on that list too...which is who i'm talking about, bottom line manny has faced guys who recently have looked bad and he wins and they say he's the best, thats the problem i have with that,he beats guys who have struggled recently...if for you that is what a pound for pound champion is,fine, lol.

You'll never get anywhere with Mayweather fans. At least with Manny you can apply some perspective and look at his rise through weight classes and marvel with the way he's been able to carry his power, increase his speed and absorb naturally bigger fighters' punches. How long has he been at 147? How long has Floyd been at 147? Manny is doing it faster and in style, while the other guy prefers to beef with Rick Ross on his twitter account.

It has to do viewing things in there proper perspective. Manny just recently became a welterweight and is dominating naturally bigger men, who had never been dominated before, while they were all competitive with each other, but not with him. His rapid rise through weight classes is impressive in that context, because it's highly unusual. If Floyd took a chance and fought those same guys, I'd give him credit too. But we both know he would never do that. So in your opinion who is the best fighter in the world?
