panda appreciates calzaghe much more after he retired...its like his blown up ego retired with him and he transformed into a down to earth guy

he aint lying though...hes been on the decline ever since he beat kessler...possibly before that but that was his last impressive performance...

that beating he gave roy shouldnt even be rated...

He's not top 100, Larry. Allow that.

You can put it into perspective by asking yourself if he has as deserving a claim as many others who would be arguable or just outside of that list or belonging to a 2nd tier of 100, such as Nelson, Tapia, Pintor, if he's as deserving as even a Kostya Tszyu is questionable. I mean, would you put Joe's accomplishment above that of a Juan Manuel Marquez even? That latter question should give you some perspective, because it's quite debatable, and yet, in mentioning Marquez, it's clear we've now strayed from any credible, discriminative definition of All Time Greatness (that's not a knock on Marquez).

What does heart have to do with being knocked out?

Calazghe wasn't heartless, though, by any stretch. His accomplishment has just become overrated by some fans in the immediate aftermath of his retirement.

I believe that people actually started to turn away from boxing after they saw a Calzaghe fight. That's how disgusting his style was. Good riddance.
I believe boxing its for the entire world. wut u talking is pure hating wit no brain at all. no American wants to go over see either cause they scared to fight in other peoples back yard except the Army, Marine corp, or Air force lol. If he didn't believe he had no reason to come its aight not a big deal. at the end he did n he beat 2 future Hall of Fame's in their back yard n don't get me wrong Roy is ma favor Boxer of All times. but the man beat him n I gotta give him credit for that. I also believe he wanted to come fight Roy Jones Jr in the early 2000s wen he was in hes prime, don't know what happen with dat. Am not telling u not to hate if u a hater hate its wut u love to do. but inform yourself so u could be good at it at least. bottom line u suck at hating lol

the full interview is on bbc sport.

BBC, Sport, BBC Sport, bbc.co.uk, world, uk, international, foreign, british, online, service

the nsb article misses the best bit imo:

I'm more concerned about my youngest son Connor.

"He came into my dressing room before the Roy Jones fight crying his heart out because he saw me get knocked down against Bernard Hopkins a couple of months earlier.

"He had also spent the Jones build-up watching footage of Jones' glory years, when he was at his peak, on You Tube.

"Connor was sobbing 'dad, he is amazing' and I tried to reassure him 'don't worry son, Jones isn't that good anymore.'

"So while I was supposed to be psyching myself up for a huge fight on the pads and getting into my 'zone,' I had to give my little boy a hug to stop him crying.

"Then in the first round, Jones knocked me down which didn't help - Connor couldn't watch it. I can't put him through that again

A video of Roy Jones Jr's glory years, made Calzaghe's son cry.

"Jones isn't that good anymore" says Calzaghe.

That's cherry picking at its best!

Course everyone knows. Calzaghe tried to justify fighting Jones Jr as legit.

                      The truth comes out now!
