If Calzaghe stuck around he would've got whooped by Andre Ward and possibly Andre Dirrell...

If Calzaghe stuck around, they would have been facing a shell of his former self, and would still have probably been beaten.
Prime Calzaghe would have easily beat the likes of Froch, Pascal, Dawson, Pavlik, Taylor, Abraham, Ward, and Dirrell. He is a whole different class of fighter.Comment

So confusing. Lost hunger? Fading skills? Cut corners?
Did his skills fade because he wasnt training correctly, and not neccesarily age? So if he didnt cut corners he would be battering people?
Excuses me thinks. He did train right as he wanted his zero but he just wasnt as good. He had lost his power for starters.Last edited by hugh grant; 11-08-2010, 07:04 AM.Comment

LOL, getting dropped in the first round by a couple 40 year old really took the hunger out of him. Fraud. In a recent interview with South Wales Argus, former super middleweight king Joe Calzaghe (46-0) broke down the details on the circumstances which led to his retirement nearly two years ago. Calzaghe retired not long after his dominating win over Roy Jones Jr. in 2008. He has no desire to return to boxing for any amount of money. [Click Here To Read More]Comment

Listen to this idiot! how may fights have you had? some people REALLY have no idea that it is actually difficult to fight at the lower levels of boxing, any belt you can obtain is a real achievement in boxing, people like you pal are ****ing demented! feel what it is like to take a punch in the face pal, seriously figure out what the mental aspect of boxing is all about before you call anybody a BUM! let alone heartless! Calzaghe may have missed out on the big fights in his prime, and his record could have been better in terms of some of the fights taken, but nobody can call this guy a bum for all his achievements, a heartless bum that can hold a world title for double figure defences??? c'mon! i would bet my house you sit at home watching your hd tv criticising fighters when you blatently have no ****ing idea what its all about.Calzaghe was a heartles bum. The bum never had the desire to go overseas and become a great. He fought his last 2 fights in Vegas and MSG so that he could say that he has fought at all the big venues.
I believe that people actually started to turn away from boxing after they saw a Calzaghe fight. That's how disgusting his style was. Good riddance.Comment

Doesn't surprise me, once Calzaghe finally got the big fights against Jones and Hopkins losing heart for the sport is natural. Not like he was young going into those fights.Comment

Disagree with him EASILY beating Ward and being in a different class. Ward IMo is every bit as skilled as Calzaghe but Ward is faster. If Calzaghe stuck around, they would have been facing a shell of his former self, and would still have probably been beaten.
