Those premature stoppages are hardly Calzaghe's fault. All blame lies on the ref and he alone.

As for the Hopkins fight,it was a close fight to anybody who saw it.Hopkins sure as hell didnt outbox him to the point where anything other than a Hopkins victory was unjust.

""Connor was sobbing 'dad, he is amazing' and I tried to reassure him 'don't worry son, Jones isn't that good anymore.' "

That's not exactly a secret, I don't think Calzaghe was denying it. RJJ had been knocked out cold twice on HBO not long before their fight. Why wouldn't he talk that way about his opponent? He didn't earn his undefeated record by chasing the big fights and fighting everyone, so it's a little misleading but he was still a good boxer. Hopkins was still good when he beat him.

of course they are his fault. his promoter rigged the fights so he wouldn't lose and would have a high knockout ratio.

the hopkins fight was close if you don't know how to score boxing matches. calzaghe only gave the illusion it was close because he threw so many punches that missed but if you watch the lil documentary i posted you can see hopkins totally outclassed him in at least 7 out of the 12 rounds. people refuse to watch because they don't want to accept the truth. ignorance is bliss for calzaghe fans.

I don't like Calzaghe for the same reason a lot of other people don't but I'll tell you what. I respect him a lot more for admitting that he would've lost and decided not to keep going. I know these guys are different fighters. But you hear Mayweather saying he won't fight Pacquiao for whatever bullshit reason but he'll never admit he thinks he'll lose when you know that's exactly what's crossing his mind. Same exact thing with Lopez in regards to Caballero. Calzaghe outright comes out and says he can't beat top fighters now. I respect that a little more I suppose.

Calzaghe was a real champ !! Retired perfectly too without the crave for only money. Have a great life after boxing Cal and thanks for your fights.

Always liked Calzaghe one of the rare boxers who can adapt to any style.
