    1) No matter how Amir words it, he wasn't "doing everything he could" to make the fight w/Maidana. He wants us to forget that this fight probably wouldn't even be happening (because Maidana "priced himself out of the fight") except for the fact that Maidana went so far as to demand a purse bid and the purse bid was approved. Funny how quickly Kahns team then agreed to go ahead and sign to fight AFTER a purse bid was ordered (because Amir could have ended up having to fight for far less had the bid gone through). HE WAS GOING TO HAVE TO FIGHT MAIDANA SOONER OR LATER... unless he could get it to appear that Maidana would not agree to terms to fight, and that didn't happen, period.

    2) The reason this fight is in the U.S. is because of his PROMOTER. Schaeffer wanted this fight in the States, Schaeffer pushed for this fight to be in the States, and Schaeffer got the fight in the States. To my knowledge Maidana never refused to fight Amir anywhere, and again, Amir is twisting the facts around to try to make himself seem noble.

    3) Amir also wants us to forget that his choice was to fight JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ. Twice Team Kahn tried to convince JMM to fight, twice JMM refused to be underpaid and be a stepping stone for Kahns future. That's the fight we would be seeing in December had JMM not also "priced himself out of a fight." HAHA! But, Amir STILL wants us to give him credit for stepping up to fight Maidana (*cough* only after the purse bid was ordered *cough*).

    4) Kahn says in this interview, "...the reason we took on Malignaggi instead of Maidana in May was because Maidana was unknown in America... but he's become more well known and a bigger name - it makes more sense to fight now then it did before." Maidana became a bigger name in America since May, because he fought Chop Chop Corley in Argentina??!? C'mon Amir...

    5) Amir has told the press on several occasions that "Maidana is better than Bradley and Alexander." and that he is "taking on #1 straight away". Now he says that Maidana is "not a bad fighter" and will be a "good warm up fight" for Bradley, who Kahn thinks will be "a similar fight to Maidana". Everyone who thinks fighting Bradley will be "similar" to fighting Maidana, please raise your hand... That's what I thought too. I think Kahn is in a dream world.
I still believe that IF Kahn gets past Maidana he'll end up skipping a fight with Bradley, citing that there would be no need to fight him because he's already beaten the "#1 guy".

Before anyone tells me to "stop *****ing", just know that I'm just pointing out some facts here. It doesn't mean that I don't think Kahn has talent, and he obviously has a good chance of beating Maidana come December. But Kahn continually puts the cart before the horse. He comes off as living in a fantasy land because he's already talking about a huge fight in England with Floyd Mayweather, and he's barely scratched the surface of his own division. He acts like he should already get credit for beating everyone in the 140pd division already and half of the 147pd division just for taking on a fighter he was always supposed to fight. Just get through your fight with Maidana first Amir, and then you can dream about trying to beat the true #1 guy in your division... Tim Bradley. Stop patting yourself on the back for things you haven't even done yet.

    /Rant.
By far the best post in this thread, and saved me the trouble of pointing out the same things.

But I disagree about him not fighting Bradley next if he wins. If he beats Maidana, I don't think he could credibly not fight Bradley next, plus it would be a huge fight financially.

          That is ridiculous.

I would fight Manny at any weight, anywhere, anytime, wearing nothing but a pink tutu and a matching ribbon in my hair..... for $1mil.
knowing full well that I have little-to-no chance of even surviving, let alone winning.

And Mayweather is a professional fighter, who would most likely win.

You sure you just don't like him

While the post you were replying to was a bit ridiculous (and I suspect was not really meant to be taken literally anyway, but was just a jibe), your post is equally ridiculous.

For one thing, a million dollars is a lot of money to you and me, but is less than 1/20th of what Floyd earned in his last fight. If he retired for good now, he could live a lifestyle that you and I can only imagine for the rest of his life.

Marciano retired when he did because he felt he would lose sooner or later if he kept going, and he was happy with what he had achieved. He turned down enormous pay days to come back from retirement. Same was true for Lennox Lewis. Marquez turned down a big pay day to rematch Pac immediately after their first fight, because he thought he was being offered less than he was worth, and his pride was hurt. Hopkins turned down the biggest pay day of his career to rematch Jones in 2002 for similar reasons.

The fact is that so far, Floyd has turned down the biggest pay day of his career to fight Pac. What his motives are and who is really to blame are a matter of opinion and conjecture, and I can't be bothered to go into my views on that in this thread as it's off topic and is getting boring, but you can't deny that for whatever reason, he has turned it down so far.

Money isn't most people's only motivation for living, as you pretend. It's an important motivation for most people, up to a point, but is far from being most people's over-riding one, and is certainly not their sole one.

                    well...

It's one thing to know the path it is completely a different experience walking it. I'm glad he's talking, but, that pretty much all it is.

He holds no impressive victories over anyone in his 23-1 record.

He beat Kottie and Paulie pretty impressively..I'm by no means a Khan fan but he has some good wins and looks like the real deal..But Maidana is a beast I think he bit off more then he can chew there..
