Comments Thread For: Steward, Roach Defend Pacquiao's Catch-Weight Demand
Collapse

A champion should be able to weigh in at the division's limit and be able to concentrate purely on the battle inside the ring, not the battle to lose weight to accommodate a popular challenger.
If a fighter wants to step up into a new division, they should accept that their opponent may hold a natural size advantage and either come up with tactics to combat that or build themselves up and grow into the weight class.
You must be livid about PW fighting for the lineal Middleweight title at a catchweight

And, he will not be an issue at any division, after that fight.

Thats even worse.
I complained that the fight WAS sanctioned, not when.
In essence, if Pac fought Margo @ 147, you would be OK. Or if the fight is @ 154 you'll be OK as well?
Well, them parties agreed to meet not @ 147 nor @ 154. They decided on 150 and that's the weight they are fighting. The vacant trinket is just the gravy.

Steward is on some bullshit regarding the notion that these catchweights don't taint Pacquiao's wins and accomplishments. And so what if Leonard won a title at a catch weight? That's tainted too in my view. To me a real acheivement is what Henry Armstrong did by beating guys that constantly outweighed him. Steward is making a mockery of the sport with this statement.

This is a Top Rank in-house exhibition match.
Yes, the title being at stake is my ONLY problem, other than cheato getting an undeserved payday.
They can go and *** each other, in a hotel room, in Upper Moldavia, for all I care..... but are you seriously trying to tell me that you think the winner will be a true world champion at 154 ?
Give yourself an uppercut kid.
One of them could not even currently compete with the top welters.
The other guy's Team have recently complained that they just cannot get him above 146
Yet these two guys are fighting for a VACANT title, to prove who the best fighter is at 154
LMAO
Did I mention, give yourself an uppercut ?Last edited by LeadUppercut; 11-04-2010, 08:12 PM.

Just another trinket in Pacland.....................good historical context though
