Floyd is better at 147. Manny is better P4P.

There are arguments that they cancel each other out with achievements.

Bob Arum is playing this very tight and there should be a fight fixed in 2011.

Have to get those points out of the way before I dive into my opinion.

Its like Marciano having to beat Joe Louis.

It has to happen before anyone else is ackonowledged at 147. Either that or the title will be SCRAPPED over which has its good points with the blood coming through from 140.

My question goes beyond the current rankings and who is "better".

What I am talking about is more about status, Floyd gained the status of being the man at 147 but he left the sport so he no longer really has the claim that he once did, that said he never lost his championship in the ring.

So assuming a guy comes along in a timly fashion and starts to really make a name in the 147 pound division so much so that they are the next lineal champ does that man need to face Floyd to cement their championship because if Floyd is hanging around out there with no loses (and he is still fighting) he can still say "how is this guy the champ I never lost".

Can you look at someone as the Champion of 147 if they bypass Floyd enitrely on their route to the championship.

floyd might have beat mosley but pac has accomplished more. for pac to clean out the division he'd have to fight floyd, but in the long run it doesn't matter.

            Of course not.

That would be like saying Marciano/Louis had no real reason to happen.

Louis was 37 when he took that fight and that (by today's standards) is like fighting in your late 40s/early 50s.

Not even talking about Manny anyways, since Manny will never put in the work to be the 147 champion without fighting Floyd, even if Manny embarks on such a task the only reason for him to do so is force Floyd to fight him.

So this really doesn't apply to him at all.

Isn't that the same way Joe Calzaghe gained the championship at 168?

Actually I am sorry for comparing Rodriguez to Lacy, Rodriguez is actually a much better fighter~

Although if Calzaghe came back I wouldn't consider anyone a real champion of 168 until he was dealt with no matter how it was gotten~

mickey's been in with some of the best welterweights in the world such as sammy sparkman and carlos baldomir. we are extremely lucky we got the undisputed linear welterweight championship live on hbo and it wasn't on ppv.

as for calzaghe coming back to 168 what's the point? he beats everyone anyway so why bother. i believe that was his motto throughout his career.

Don't really care if he comes back or not was just using a different fighter in a similar situation.
