This is not about the ring either this is about how people look at champions.

So if someone else is able to gain that status (without fighting Floyd) do they need to go try to see Floyd to cement their status, because Floyd can always say "hey I never lost I am still the champ" so for me for someone else to be the true recognized guy at 147 they need to clean out Floyd (or atleast try since he is picky about who he fights).
thats how it worked for tyson spinks

I am a fan of Floyd while he may be the number 1 guy currently the number 1 guy is not the champion.

To me a champion really has to lose in the ring, they can give up their belts and what not but if they don't get defeated they are still out there, a number 1 guy can change whenever a champion is special.

This is my point, how are you gonna beat him if he won't fight??Until him & Manny both retire,147 is on pause!!The only welterweight I see right now getting a shot at either is Berto & that's because he isn't that good!!If it were as simple as Floyd or Manny being on top & taking on all comers, the Punisher would have already sent them packing,he can make 147,but neither 1 will fight him!!How do you become #1 if the #1 won't fight you,you can't you just gotta wait it out!!

Yea it has happeaned before, normally if you want to be considered the real champ you have to beat the previous one.

That is why I said try to fight, if someone won't fight you not much can be done about that situation other than just work through it.

No one has done **** in the 147 divison recently so the situation is theortical but someone (say Mike Jones) could always start to make things happean and start cleaning up the riff raff, though considering how soft the division is below the top it could happean that someone becoem the 147 champ through the Ring's protocol without facing either man.

That man would have to to a lot to make people just forget about Floyd (or Manny).
