Arum is right IMO. But, it is not Berto fault nor his it the fault of his handlers. Their job is to get the most money as possible.

The blame is on Ross Greenburg and HBO for overpaying Berto against opponents he has no business facing like Urango, Forbes, or Hernandez.

Arum Rears His Ugly Head

Who is he to say a fighter is over paid? Is he saying that about himself every time he digs into a fighter's purses? The fighter is the one risking getting his brains scrambled like an egg. If Berto can get a million plus to fight, more power to him. Arum is only saying the fight is difficult to make because he knows that Berto is not accepting the peanuts that Bob Arum will be trying to throw at him to face Cotto. Why do people fault fighters for turning down purses? Athletes in other sports do it all the time. This is after originally agreeing to a set salary. People need to wake up and recognize that boxing is one of the most demanding sports on the mind and body there is.

i like berto he has a lot of potential, but the only fighter he fought that was good was collazo and he almost lost! hes not giving him a rematch and now wants an elite fighter with big $$$...if that fight were setup they would bank on cotto to bring the crowd in....and knowing arum he would prob set the fight up for the day of the PR day festival here in ny

i agree with you 100%, but you gotta admit berto is fighting alot of c+ fighters. he's cleaning out the division from ranks #10 to #20.
i mean i'm a berto fan but he gotta step it up just alil and fight maybe a clottey. i think its kinda embarrising that a blown up lightweight like manny comes to the welterweight division and fights only the top guys there and the WBC champ dosent.

By the way I mostly agree with you guys, HBO pays this guy way too much and now he thinks he is some hot shot or something. Sad thing he cant even draw flies to **** and his fights are turning into pot shot-hug fests.
