Comments Thread For: Arum: Cotto vs Berto Tough To Make, Andre is Overpaid

WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto is set to return on November 27 against Mexico's Freddy Hernandez at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. If successful, Berto has mentioned a number of desired opponents for 2011. One of the opponents at the top of Berto's list is WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto.

i have to admit that arum actually makes some sense here...Berto has been fighting bums...straight up

i like berto he has a lot of potential, but the only fighter he fought that was good was collazo and he almost lost! hes not giving him a rematch and now wants an elite fighter with big $$$...if that fight were setup they would bank on cotto to bring the crowd in....and knowing arum he would prob set the fight up for the day of the PR day festival here in ny

For once Bob Arum is dead on. Berto is another Jermaine Taylor. I commend Lou Dibella for his work of getting the most financially for his client and milking HBO but I see Berto's career playing out just like Jermaine Taylor's career. He may get past an old Mosley by the skin of his teeth (like Bhop v. Taylor) but once he fights a young hard-nosed puncher with B+ skills he will be exposed.

1.2 milllion on bertos undercard fight?Canelo has 10 times more fans then
berto. And cotto has like 20 times more then bertos,And still berto would
still want 50-50.It will be best for the sport if hernandez beats him.

So One million is too much for Berto, but 5 million is fine of a titleless cheater?
Snob Arum is full of sheat with his double standards, double dipping habits.
Bottom line is that He's unable to negotiate with other promoters and hates the idea of spliting promoting moneys.
When was the last time He succesfully negotiated with another promoter??
Like a good lawyer HE presents his case, but like a lawyer you have to follow what He does. I'm tired of hearing his BS; Come down from your Super Promoter pedestal and talk to the little people Snob!

cheater or no cheater margirito puts people in seats. you see berto last couple fights plenty of empty seats. lots of holding real snooze. and he would ask for about 5 mill to fight cotto. hes getting a mill or more from hernendez. thats whats arum is saying. im sure he gladly give berto a mill or 1.5. you telling me berto deserve mroe than judah?

****!!!! If they really wanted to make it happen they would find a way to make it happen. Make it a ppv with a solid undercard and offer Berto a 40/60 split.
