I can understand while you feel the way you do, but ,he is a boxer and it's a boxers job to fight and it's the corner and ref's job to keep the boxers safe, they are the ones expected to be the people to get him out of there.

It's an act of class to do it but they're not obligated to do.

      obligation, no of course

but they do know they can cause serious damage and that sometimes, the ref is too ****** to stop the carnage

a little sign does help to wake up the ref sometimes

definitely an act of class, and as I said, it would have been the least Vitali could have done after cherry picking a punching bag

and yes, I recall Holmes waked up the ref when he was pulverizing Frazier...

it would have way less brutal to knock Briggs out in 5 or 6 than to let the slaughter go on for 12

long beatings are what cause long term damage, permanent injuries

Holmes did that, most likely because it was obvious that the very inexperienced Frazier was badly outclassed. Of course the sooner the fight is stopped the sooner Holmes goes home as the champion, so it can also be regarded as self serving.

As for the "cherry picking", wasn't Briggs like the 3rd or 4th choice after other potential opponents declined?

Amazing that none of the officials decided to call it. Hope Briggs is okay brain trauma wise in the long term.

the corner didn't stop the fight on order from Briggs

the doctor couldn't stop the fight because the ref didn't want to end it

and the ref was too ****** to end it on his own

Briggs was too proud or too shaken up to quit on his own

so, the responsibility is in which hands ? it is in the hands of the fighter dishing out the punishment in such circumstances, that is what I believe, it is a logical conclusion

That's why there are officials there to regulate it, and cornermen to supposedly look out for Briggs' best interest. Chastising Vitali for this is a major reach. I'm guessing his hands were pretty sore on Sunday.

oh, and you believe it wasn't obvious the very shot Briggs was badly outclassed ?

and you could say maybe Holmes had mercy too
he would have scored the stoppage anyway, but Frazier would have taken even more unecessary punishment, I don't see how it is self serving

and it doesn't really matter Briggs was a fourth choice because he shouldn't have been a 20th choice, let alone a fourth choice
