    Vitali Klitschko has no mercy

He kept on punching Shannon instead of signaling to the ref that there was no point in letting the slaughter go on.

Sometimes a fighter has to wake the ref up.

I've see many fighters do that in the past. I recall RJJ signaled to the ref that he should stop the fight when he was brutalizing Brannon. Andre Ward signaled to the ref that his opponent just before Kessler (pudwill) had enough and it was just nonsense to let the fight go on.

I've seen this happen many times before.

On top of cherry picking a shot fighter, Vitali brutalized him for 12 rounds and never signaled to the ref that it was enough, no, he just kept on punching the punching bag. He had no mercy.

    What a glorious champion.

The ref and Briggs corner respected Briggs wishes to not stop the fight at any cost.

What's Vitali supposed to do, stand there and do nothing?

Blame anyone else, but no way in hell you can blame Vitali.

you should read my post again

yes I can blame Vitali, because he was teeing off on a dead man, a shot man he cherry picked, he put his health in danger, and at no point in the fight did he signal to the ref that it was enough like other champions did in the past

Yes, I was waiting for Vitali to make at least some small gesture to the ref that maybe Briggs has had enough. On the other hand, the ring side doctor, the corner, and of course the ref are should be making that call...we can't expect the opposing fighter to do it. Amazing that none of the officials decided to call it. Hope Briggs is okay brain trauma wise in the long term.

Professional boxers have no obligation to be merciful. They are trained to attack until the ref calls it off. Do you think Roberto Duran would have ever shown any mercy?

I agree with this. I don't expect the fighter to be involved with the stoppage.

He was very focused on Ko'ing his man.

I don't usually quote Mike Tyson, but this is the hurting business.

                    that's all I'm complaining about

it was just atrocious, cruel, period, to batter a man like this when you cherry picked him on top of it all
