Heck go for the KO FFS.
I thought he was trying, early on he actually did some decent bodywork.

In comparison to previous opponents like Arreola, Briggs gave a better effort.

Briggs corner and ref owe him an apology for allowing him to take the beating. Not Atlas, This is like the third or 4th time this guy has made a comeback and made a big paycheck.

Briggs is the king of fake it till you make it. He's like the paulie malignaggi of heavyweights.

He looks like he's going to do ****, but he never does. He goes in the ring and just postures a whole lot.

He did try. He threw what he could 'til the last (caught Vitali with a decent shot or two late). It's easier to find openings against Vitali looking in from the outside, though, and being brutally battered will exhaust you, especially when you're not known for stamina in the first place.

I'm not going to begrudge Briggs the props people give him for Saturday night. His pride is worth commending. I'll certainly take it over fight-fans demanding fighters don't quit and then devaluing it when they do stand up 'til the last through that kind of abuse.

Back to the top of the thread, Atlas is pretty much a crumbum in general.

You try fighting somebody like Vitali Klitschko... with one arm. If he tore his left bicep in round 1 (although I believe it was probably in the middle rounds) then it's always going to be a big ask. He was up against it already.

Yep, I forgot the bicep injury - Briggs' valour is immense.

Briggs was done 5 years ago. He couldn't slip the right hand, had nothing in return and it's a travesty this fight wasn't stopped earlier.

Who should apologize is the German boxing commission because it was an absolute beating that shouldn't have gone on that long.

Briggs suffered a broken nose, broken orbital bone and a torn bicep that will require surgery. Briggs was already slurring in his speech, who knows what further damage this fight did to him.

His trainers should be ashamed and so should the ref.
