Was the Super Six a Failure?

Sure it brought us some good match-ups, but overall nothing spectacular, except for the KTFO of JT? It was a great idea on paper, but what was promised at the start of this thing, as the Super Six, has now turned into this:

not at all we got to see some good matchups that we might not have seen without the tourny. its a little draged on and kind of created some divas that were once hungry before the tourny. but it think its good but they need to stop adding people and jsut end it with ward vs winner of froch and king A. i give them props and respect for trying and doing it.

They should have just done a single elimination tourney, maybe added two more fighters... with a Big PPV for the final with some of the losers fighting each other on the undercard.

        Lemme break this down.

Under NO circumstances do we see:

        Abraham/Taylor
        Dirrell/Froch
        Ward/Kessler
        Dirrell/Abraham
        Froch/Kessler
        Ward/Green
        Abraham/Froch
        Johnson/Green
        Ward/Bika

Plus potentially matches between Johnson, Froch, Abraham, and Ward.

Under NO circumstances do we see that many relevant fights in one division over a year and a half without the tournament. It may have fallen short of expectations but christ....we get like 10 highly relevant fights in one division in 18 months and we're complaining. When does that EVER happen?

Exactly, just look at Dirrell's, Ward's and Abraham's opponents prior to the tournament. Who cares if the super duper trophy at the end doesn't count for as much as it should, the good match ups can't be denied. Even the replacements were relevant fighters.

not at all. the tourney gave us good matches, plus, this tournament could be an eye opener for future tournament to avoid the the flaw it is currently experiencing.

i think, the sport and its fans benefitted alot from super 6.

And the sad part is that it's taking these "tournaments" to make these matches happen which begs the question, why don't all of these greedy sanctioning bodies come together and at least form some sort of international league to make these types of matches happen more often for each weight class. That's a whole other thread anyway though ha.

Super Six was in no way a failure. I wasn't high on it when it was announced but sure enough, after watching the first round, I followed it non-stop.

True indeed. Thanks to the tourney, I was introduced to a truly talented/awkward fighter in Dirrell.
