As much as I believe that neither Andre wanted to fight each other, there were many other "injury" excuses they could have used that would have been a lot easier than this one. Boxing commisions take brain injuries very seriously. To come out with a neurological problem is the last excuse a fighter would want to use in this day and age if it were untrue. He will have a hard time being approved for a fight now, or for a long time, even if he wants to. I just don't think they would have used an excuse this serious if they had any intentions of continuing on any time soon with Dirrells fighting career.

All those tests are to find out whether there is any remaining detectable brain trauma or whether there is any remaining detectable concussion. In both Hatton's and Dirrell's case, there wasn't. Those tests do not and cannot determine whether a concussion has occurred in the past, only whether any of the symptoms of it persist.

a concussion isnt like some disease or a physical injury where you can point to it or visibly see it.
what a doctor CAN do is run the patient through some tests to see if he/she is showing SYMPTOMS of having experienced an interruption in normal brain function due to head trauma. they do that by testing your cognitive and motor skills. and yes, that CAN be done AFTER the concussion had been sustained.

hatton WAS concussed. he clearly lost consciousness due to head trauma. by definition, that is a concussion. what he did not suffer was bruising or bleeding on the brain which is what the MRI and CT scan is for.
it is NOT clear that dirrell lost consciousness.
according to the reports, dirrell did not even suffer a concussion.
do you honestly believe that if you suffer a concussion, the symptoms last for minutes immediately after the trauma and then they disappear minutes later?

Nevertheless by the time he reached hospital there was no remaining symptoms of it, which is why the tests proved negative.

By the way, one funny aspect of your pretence at expertise is that if there was clear proof that Dirrell wasn't ever concussed (i.e. that he was acting), as you claim, then every reporter would have made that point by now. Unlike you, they will have checked with specialists in neurology. But not one of them has said that. But of course you know far more than every journalist and every medical specialist in the world.
