He just didn't want to fight his buddy Ward! I'm not fooled at all! They got some sort of agreement on the low.

During his hospital visit after the AA fight did they ever announce that the medical staff determined he suffered a concussion?Comment

So let's see if I understand:
-He wins fight via DQ - get's punch (Boxer get punch once in a while folks)
-After fight, he takes three months off (April,June,July) Dr. Orders
-Goes on to celebrete his victory and gains weight
-In the meantime, doesn't mention to anyone the "neurological disorder" or the fact that he has not kept weigth down.
-Misleads fans, SHO and Ward in thinking that he can make the fight, were it's obvious there was no intention
-And at the 11th hours, a fat, still feeling the DQ blow Dirrell decided that he can't fight
Folks, that's what I'm reading in this article. If in fact, if there was someting wrong Shaw would be telling the seven winds or be trying to hide it (Joe Messi). But it seem that Shaw was also clueless (Dude needs to be more in tune with this fighters).Comment

I see two things that make me think Dirrell wanted out.
1.) The fight doesn't make sense money wise to him now.
2.) He really doesn't want to fight someone who considers a great friend.
I'm thinking its the first one, and hopefully showtime finds out the truth and follows through with their lawsuit threat.Last edited by starkiller; 10-07-2010, 08:47 PM.Comment

Dirrell's contribution to this tournament has been nothing but negative. First he ruins the fight with Froch for a huge crowd and tv audience by avoiding the fight for 10 rounds, then he puts on an ridiculous act to get out of the Abraham fight and now he's ruined the entire tournament format and placed the whole concept in jeopardy for the future in boxing. He's a selfish snake.Comment

lol no concussion. He was fine.
"Andre was just released from the hospital. He tested negative in the brain scans. We did the urine tests. The commission was there," [promoter Gary] Shaw told BoxingScene.com.
Dirrell was knocked out when Abraham landed a roundhouse right as Dirrell was prone on the canvas after slipping on a mat logo in the 11th round. He won the fight by disqualification.
It's good news that he's negative on the brain scans, which means he's probably not in quite the awful shape some feared. What I mean is, I'm guessing his boxing career is no longer in doubt, and I don't think his injuries are quite as serious as plenty of things you'll see caused by legal action in the ring. This is a pretty standard in-and-out time with the hospital that boxers go through after their fights, and with the brain scans being negative, he's quite probably out of the woods on the worst.
He's going to be OK, and he'll make his next fight with Andre Ward later this year (or early next year, the way this tournament is unraveling and with Ward not fighting Allan Green until June 19).Comment

lol I don't know about this, for his sake I HOPE this is just a way to pull out of this tournament and he is not having issues because of that punch but who knows, this Tournament is a FAILURE!
they might as well just dump Allan Green and let Ward fight Johnson I guess but this Tournament is a WASTE!Comment

i think dirrell is full of **** seriously the punch didnt even look all that bad he knew Abraham was about to ko his a s s and now he sees that it was gonna get harder to keep his record clean. This is so embarrasing to american boxers. The middleweight tournament was a big mistake of choice of boxers they couldve had guys like bute or andrade in there at least they would have the balls to lose and keep fighting like real warriors do.Comment
