In my opinion, Jorge Alonso (or whatever his name was) just wasn't prepared to referee a fight that was conducted in this manner. I don't think he figured there would be so much clinching, and other "dirty" tactics utilized. Maybe he thought since it was a championship bout, there would not be as much nonsense in the ring. I am just guessing, trying to give the ref the benefit of the doubt, but, hey, maybe he was just ill-prepared, having a bad night, or just an altogether bad ref. Who knows.

That's something I GUARENTEE Reid prepared for. I mean, come on, who are you kidding? It's in the boy's backyard.

Saying the ref was 'out to get him' is still a bit of a stretch, but i won't deny the ref did a horrible job and it just happened to be Reid that payed for alot of it.

Regardless, you can't say Lacy wasn't the better fighter and i know that having a different referee wouldn't change a thing.

That was sort of beyound backyard proffesional rules, that was "we dont like you, and I'ma hurt you" ref'in.

I have lost all respect for reid and lacy, and that was most the horrible display of reffing i have ever seen, a pathetic fight and a very unsportsman liek fight, i hope lacy and reid go nowehre in there career.....pathetic

A couple of points the ref was **** and made a few mistakes
Reid shouldn't have been doing some of the dirty ****
Lacy would of won anyway
Lacy looked good to me but Reid also disappointed me, i expected more from him, i had mentioned to another poster that reid had become abit 'whingy' as he had got older, and made fights more ugly but i still expected more from him.
Good win for lacy though i didn't think he'd stop reid so fair play for the genuine kd's and stoppage now i hope he fights calzaghe and kicks his arse too.
By the way i like both reid and lacy so didn't care who won but happen to not like cal even tho i think he's a good fighter, i know who i'll be cheering for though when him and lacy fight and i think it's a pick em.

Hopefully this will put to bed all the **** talking about UK refs though, that was worse than anything I've seen in England.

I was impressed with Lacy's tenacity and power but he's too wild, too open and still loads up on his shots too much. There's no comparison with that version of Reid and the one that Calzahge fought. Calzaghe will take Lacy apart but at least it looks like it may be a good fight now. Can't wait for it.
