By being as cat-like as he can possibly be. Quick shots, step to the SIDE...repeat.
He has to hope that Tarver will be a little one-punch crazy, & allows Roy to pick him as Antonio waits & waits.

For Roy to win, it will be a very dull fight.

He really must avoid decent contact with Tarver's left hand.

It would be the craziest thing if the world if Tarver just swarms him and let his hands go like Glen Johnson did...Tarver, of course, doesn't have the stamina for that. If Roy Jones jr. is anything like he was for the majority of their 2nd fight...Tarver is going to need a stoppage to win.

I think people are forgetting that Roy Jones had a powerful punch, he knocked out 17 guys in a row to kickstart his career, and the last thing to leave a fighter is his punch. If I had to put money on it, I'd bet on Roy Jones having a good punchers chance against the ageing Tarver.

If I didn't know better I'd say you're converting into a Roy nuthugger.

his punch was at middle weight..most of his supposed kos at lightheavy were due to stoppage, and tko...i can only name woods, griffin, and hill that he actually stopped at light heavyweight. i notice a lot of flash knock downs at lightheavyweight but of course that was due to roy countering 'in-between' shots that the guy never saw (kinda like what happend to him..lol)

Jones purposely didn't go for knockouts Post-Benn/McClellan, he wanted to play it safe from then after seeing what happened to his good friend, but he still has that power if required.

Seriously though. Roy needs to keep moving. If he gets caught on the ropes he needs to fight his way out and keep moving. If Roy doesn't make any mistakes he will win.

What he needs to do is starting throwing straight shots when he's in the middle of the ring, particularly jab to the body and the head.

I don't think being on the ropes is the danger zone for him, because he can cover up okay, he just isn't that effective on the ropes. He needs to limit exchanges in the middle of the ring, get in, out, and on with the match ..

I would tell him to retire before he gets embarrassed again.
