And it's called HBO. The problem is, they don't understand fully how to wield that power. HBO possesses the most dedicated single boxing fan base in the world - their subscribers. These subscribers are more important than any fighter or any promoter.
I agree with most of the ideas De La Hoya brings up, and so do most of us. The problem is it shouldn't be Golden Boy enforcing these standards, it should be HBO. By giving the power to the distributor, you force the promoters to compete with each other to offer the best fights for HBO to buy.
It doesn't seem like HBO is willing to step up to the plate though - I mean, why is Golden Boy streaming live club fights and HBO isn't? Maybe Golden Boy will emerge as the sole power in boxing.
