Once again you aren't seeing very clearly. At no point did I say you can't criticize Pacquiao. I am just agreeing with TS that Pacquiao's achievements will be very well regarded as the years pass. There's plenty that can be said negatively of Pacquiao, but I don't honestly think you've correctly pinned down anything of significance in this thread.
like it or not 20 years from now no1 will remember catchweights, vacant title, margo

But so will his missteps.
Their are two sides to every coin. To think that people will forget about the Cotto catch weight, the Diaz fight, Oscar being drained, him arguably losing both fights to JMM, him fighting Clottey over Mosley, him fighting a past prime Morales 3 times, actually losing once to a past it Morales, the margarito fight, the diamond belt, him not fighting guys like Tim Austin and Too Sharp etc. To think all that will be swept under the rug is laughable at best.
Go read the history section on this site. Everyday there are threads concerning "why didnt this guy fight that guy" and etc.Comment

You have to mess up real bad to be a top athlete and not get remembered for your accomplishments in your field.
Still though true students of the game should care about all that stuff not just the fights no matter how great they look. The stuff that diminishes his accomplishments like not fighting a guy at his best fighting weight or winning a three fight series but losing the fight where the guy had real fight in him, that stuff needs to get brought up (if you know about it) or that is not really being honest.
That stuff needs to be accounted for if you are being honest and care about the truth in what you are saying.Last edited by The Gambler1981; 09-23-2010, 04:30 PM.Comment
