That is one aspect, a positive one that will aid him greatly, historians real historian always make sure to fill in the details as much as possible.
Who is to say how much emnphasis get put on the negative aspects by any one historian, different people different views on things and all.Comment

People don't whine about Hearns going up in weight to fight Hagler.. Or Duran being a LW moving to fight SRL.. They remember great fights between great fighters. Pac has a lot of that in his career. Get ready for history to remember him fondly. I don't think it's necessarily true that Mayweather will be remembered poorly at all. I do however wonder if he'll be regarded quite as highly as his skills would suggest he should be.Comment

It's not about memorizing or reviewing archives of press clippings. It's about what gets done in the ring. Besides, Margarito is an extremely live dog. In a year when boxers found every excuse not to fight, here's a guy with everything jumping in the ring to fight bigger men every chance he gets. Who the hell else is running at the chance to fight big guys? It's incredible.People don't whine about Hearns going up in weight to fight Hagler.. Or Duran being a LW moving to fight SRL.. A lot of people (Historians included) consider Henry Armstrong to be a top 5 ATG, and they speak glowingly of how he conquered several weight, simultaneously. How many of them complain about the CW fight on his record. Even if they did, it wouldn't take anything away from his extraordinary accomplishments. Same goes for Sugar Ray Leonard, Joe Walcott, Joe Gans, Jimmy McLarnin, Bernard Hopkins, Roy Jones Jr, the list goes on.To historians it is all about the details, and with the way information is available currently it is doubtful that much gets lost, and if the information is lost no one will care about who Manny was in the first place.

If you truly care about the history of the sport you care about the details, people who don't really need not be listened to.
Pacquiao will go down in History as the only 7 weight division champion in History (probably 8), and his legend will continue to grow when kids years from now watch highlights of him brutally beating much bigger, tough opponents during his unprecedented ascent.
Nothing can change that.Comment
