and this is why 15 rounders was changed to 12
Yes, this was by far the most Tragic fight. It inspired the aforementioned chages to boxing, and a total of 3 lives were lost as a result. This was in every sense of the word...a TRAGEDY.

Paez- grove ended the 15 rounders according to this article.
Hey, thanks Round 1. I remember that fight Paez was a big underdog and slugged his way out of a loss to Grove. It was the last 15 rounder but I don't think the fight was the reason they ended.

A few of mine would be Holmes-Ali, Holyfield-Toney, and not to mention fights that resulted in a fatality.

They could have at least gave him that win . He was never the same fighter after that fight . THe real tragedy is that he still thinks he can fight .
what the HELL are you talking about? that is one of the worst statements I've ever read in my life. since when are wins GIVEN? you TAKE wins, and that's what Chavez did that night. Don't blame Taylor's mistake on Richard Steele either. I can't believe people call this a robbery. If you knock a guy out, it doesn't matter how much time is left on the clock, you win the fight as long as the punch came before the final bell.

I think anybody that says Taylor was robbed in this fight only says that based on what Taylor is like now, but NOBODY knew at the time of that fight, it would have turned out this bad for Taylor. I think everybody crying over this fight doesn't deserve to be called a boxing fan, and frankly I'm sickened to hear this from a fellow Judah fan. grow up

Yes that was Barry McGuigan and Young Ali. McGuigan won by 6th round KO and Young Ali died after 5 months in a coma.

Because He won the fight even with being knocked down. He worked Chavez for 11 rounds and deserved to win the fight . THe ref had to know the round was about to end . They get the 10 second warning , he was knocked down after the warning , he knew the fight was over , he beat the count and the belt should have been Given to Taylor. IT was the mans dream for gods sake . If he got his ass whooped in the rematch so be it , but he did more then enough to win that fight .

I agree somewhat, there was 10 seconds left, but there was no saved by the bell rule...

If he stopped it, ppl would say he was helpin Chavez..

If he let it go, then ppl would say he was helpin Taylor..

but he showed the signs of a knockout victim by not answering Richard Steele. nobody to blame but himself. stop feeling compassionate for the guy to the point you claim he won the fight. he didn't win, he got knocked out. he took such a toll from that fight that it ruined him, but he never deserved the win if he got knocked out.

I guess next they'll start saying Castillo deserved the win against Corrales. BUT HE WAS ON HIS FEET!! Yeah, with his hands down and his head thrashing about, lol
