Yea Mak, a trainer can teach him to tuck his chin a little better while he's gettin off combos, and I agree with you Sr. would get the job done with Gamboa. I can see where Jack's commin from though about the hundred's of AM fights that YG's had, in the fight with Salido, all that AM **** showed it's ugly head(You didn't see all that BS when he sparked out Mtagwa). There are going to be some things that a trainer can correct, but there are going to be "habits" that are so deeply engrained that NO trainer will be able to completely solve them, they may be able to teach them something to compensate for the habits(Like Freddie and Manny), but if it's a deeply engrained habit, it's going to be there under the surface at all times.
Gamboa should get a new trainer to help with his flaws.

It is also unlikely that any trainer can help him with that problem and the only possible thing that would cause him to fix that is if he get knocked out cold and it somehow doesn't ruin him.Comment

Nah too late imo, He actually need a lose or a beating before he would try to change or adapt, Because he kept winning he wouldnt be too bothered, I remember Naz was like that but he couldnt and didnt change and when he tried to change by bringing in Emmanuel steward it made everything worse for him.Comment

the only way i see him ever changing is if he loses; and even then theirs probably a greater chance of him totally mailing it by losing his hunger. its obvious the guy has extraordinary ability, but he fights ******. its like he's trying to get rounds in, but instead of working on certain things he probably should, like in-fighting, like his defense, like ring generalship, he takes that time to pose after he throws a flurry.Comment

Something I've noticed with Gamboa.
He only drops his hands and goes lacadaisical when he's completely in charge and doesn't feel the opponent can possibly pose a risk to him at all.
Lately he always starts off his fights by being very technical with his guard up high and tests out his opponent.
After he tests them out and feels no risk with that opponent, that's when he starts dropping his hands and doing whatever he wants.
I think in a fight with Cab or Juanma... he would not be dropping his hands to his pockets like he has with his previous opponents.
As long as JuanMa and Cab give Gamboa reason to be worried... I think Gamboa will stay in his technical mode...
