Gamboa should get a new trainer to help with his flaws.

I think Joe Goosen or Floyd Sr would be great for Gamboa. IMO that would be the perfect match up for him.

Even though his names has been linked with the elite at 126. He is about to start fighting the elites and if he wants to end up on top he needs to fix his flaws and needs a new trainer.

Sr is a defensive specialist. Something that Gamboa needs IMO. He has god giving talent. Very quick reflexes but Sr would teach him fundamentals.

Goosen has worked with a Cuban skilled fighter before in Casa and did a great job with him. He is a very underrated trainer and IMO would fit in well with Gamboa.

I agree, Senior can take advantage of those super quick reflexes and maybe make Gamboa more efficient.

Nothing can help him. He's fought like this for hundreds of amateur fights his whole life.

He is what he is, he's not changing now.

If you tried to change him, he'd take it as an insult anyway.

He made take it as an insult. But, he needs changing and Sr or Goosen IMO would be better for him.

And, you might be right he might have to suffer a lost to understand that he needs work.

I've never been too convinced that a trainer could change a fighter that much after a certain age.

Unless the trainer can make his arms 5 inches longer and get him to grow 3 more inches in height, I don't think his problems can be fixxed.

maybe a trainer can teach him to keep his f'n chin from sticking up in the air when he's throwing combos

It is who he is, but if he was more rangy that would be way less of an issue and could infact benefit him by drawing guys into traps.
