Also he has only defended any title above 126 1 time, against clottey.

I guess its all how you judge the details.
Clottey was an arguably top 5 WW. Now if your argument is that the WW division is weak then that is an argument you can make since Clotty was arguably a top 5 WW. He beat Hatton after Hatton had 2 wins in a row and one against a top 10 fighter, Oscar came down from 150 not 154 and by all accounts going in Pac had no chance to win now everybody wants to look at it in hindsight.

Everybody is overrated and underrated. It all depends on who is doing the rating.

However, to say he is the most overrated in this era is completely ridiculous question. Especially when Oscar, Judah, Hatton, and many other fighters who fought in this era are completely overrated. Hell IMO when I hear that Floyd could of beaten Hearns KO Duran in 9 and so on I feel he is extremely overrated. But, that is all depending on who is doing the rating. Of course Pac is overrated when people say he is a top 10 ATG or that he can beat Tito. But, Floyd is also overrated when people say he the most skilled fighter of all time, or he is the smartest fighter of all time, or the best defensive fighter of all time.

Anyways as overrated goes Oscar, Judah, and Hatton>Pac. Hell in the last 5 years Winky Wright was severely overrated. Till this day he can fight a top MW and people think he has a chance to win.

I am a Calzaghe fan, and that is a fair comparison. Where as Floyd did his best work early on and then faded into near obscurity later, Calzaghe toiled in obscurity early on only to do most of his best work later.

Clottey is NOT a counter puncher.

He never has been. He can not mix offense and defense effortlessly like counter punchers can. He waits in his shell until you stop throwing thats not being a counter puncher.

I would never say Manny is overrated. As I said in my 1st post in this thread I think some of his accomplishments are over hyped because he is the anti floyd. he has accomplished great things in the ring and has been earned accolades for them.

That said, if he had the same antagonistic relationship with the old established boxing writers as some other fighters do I think they would factor in the catchweights and lack of title defenses more. Not Liking someone should not be a factor in how you rate them.
