is Pacquiao the most over rated boxer in this era?

back when Manny was going through life and death with Marquez in 08 I don't remember Manny people ranking him amongst the greats of all time and after that Post Diaz, DLH , Hatton, Cotto and Clottey he became one of the ATG's?
can you name another boxer whose stock went up that much in just over 2 years?
Hell Roy stock went up really high after Ruiz. They were putting him in the top 10 ATG after that fight.
And, no Pac is not the most overrated fighter of this era. And, going life and death wiht JMM is no shame. Is not like JMM is a bum. Hell JMM has ATG skills, maybe not the resume but the skills he is very elite. And, after the JMM he was already a top 3 greatest fighter to come out of the Philippines, and arguably clearly a top 5 greatest Asians ever without fighting Diaz, Oscar, Hatton, Cotto, and Clottey. He had already a damn good resume. And, had already "first guy ever" title. Everything in the last 2 years just added to his ATG status.Last edited by jrosales13; 09-08-2010, 09:50 AM.Comment

For example Floyd KO'ing a prime Duran in 9 rounds at 135 or beating Hearns at 147.

He has since moved up to end the career of Oscar De La Hoya, to win the lineal title at 140 pounds against Ricky Hatton, to win a welterweight title over 3 division titlist and current junior middleweight titlist Miguel Cotto, defeated a top 5 contender and former welterweight titlist Josh Clottey, and he has won 3 of those four by knockout and all those fights by utter domination. Both Hatton and Cotto were top 10 pound for fighters on the Ring Magazine's lists at the time Manny KO'd them. He is now fighting the top welterweight of the previous decade at 150 lbs.
Please explain to me how those accomplishments are 'overrated'.Comment

He was one of the greatest fighters of all time following prior to his move to 135. Manny won the lineal 112 pound title at 20 years old. He moved up after outgrowing the weight and won the IBF title at 122 pounds. He then goes 5-1-1 against 3 of the greatest featherweights of all time (Barrera and Morales were both on ESPN's list of the 50 greatest fighters ever, Marquez has obviously proven to be an ATG himself) and wins the lineal titles at 126 and 130 in the process.

That's fair, as it stands now he still has one more lineal title than Mayweather though. 4 for Manny, 3 for Floyd. He also has those titles over a far greater range of weights.Comment
