Floyd best win in his resume is against Mosley who was 38 yrs old and way past his prime. Cotto's best win was against the better version of Mosley. so who's overrated?
floyd's best wins are against genaro hernandez, Castillo, Corrales and Gatti. Shane was a great performance too. I only wish shane had accepted fight in 05/06.

can you name another boxer whose stock went up that much in just over 2 years?

From a talent pers[ective only Cotto should've helped increase his stock. But ODH and Hatton were "bigger" and that has to count. I think alot of Manny's hype is because he is the "anti" floyd. Manny deserves his fighter of the decade award and his other awards. He earned them in the ring. As for being an ATG, well of course he is because he has won so many titles in different divisions.

He is somewhat over rated because he has 1 title defense after 126. Defending the title is much harder than winning it. Other fighters that have multiple titles have at least defended their belts.

There's absolutely nothing wrong or unfair about this thread's question. In fact, you and the rest getting all defensive and irrational over the question is part of the problem with this site. You can't even question Pacquiao here without being insulted and whatnot. I agree with the TS that Pacquiao is overrated to some extent. Sadly, I don't think you all really know what "overrated" means which is why it's hard to have this discussion. Overrated doesn't = no good. Overrated simply means rated higher than should be. When you have people going around saying that Pacquiao is rated higher than RJJ on the alltime P4P list, then it's kind of hard to say that he's not being overrated by some.

For the record, the term era is basically defined as a period of time marked by specific events or characteristics. The current era that we're in is nowhere near close to 30 years old. I would say that this is the era of the non-heavyweight where the most popular fighters are non-heavyweights. This era started less than 15 years ago. Is Pacquiao one of the most overrated fighters of the last 10-15 years? I'd say yes you could make that case.
