my boy Marcus "Too Much" Johnson (Currently rated #7 by the WBC in that division) will get them both once this Tournament is over lol

I was thinking the same thing (in bold) as well... also maybe for extra incentive to ensure both guys give their all to win it.both Abraham and Froch are coming off of loses so yes Approving Ward vs Dirrell over Froch vs Abraham actually make A LOT of sense, the CORRUPT WBC finally did something right for once and I think they are also trying to force the issue between Dirrell and Ward to make sure that fight happens
I picked Abraham or Ward to win this Tournament before it started and I still think they are #1 and #2 and should be in the finals...BUT Dirrell and Froch are more then capable or RUINING that especially Dirrell he has the speed and footwork and skills to keep Ward off of him for 12 Rounds
this fight has to get done now!!! don't ****in matter when they do it...as long as it gets down and I think it willComment

Happened before. Whitaker-Ramirez II was allowed for the vacant WBC belt (Chavez dumped to move up) with Pea already having the IBF.
Sanctioning bodies are laughable and arbitrary but this isn't too big a deal. It's probably a back door inducement to pressure Ward and Dirrell to get their heads out of their ass. Froch-Abraham is happening either way.Comment

The sanctioning organizations (except for the WBO) have a history of being unfair to European boxers.
I remember what thay did to Dariusz Michalczewski when he unified at light heavyweight by defeating Virgil Hill.Comment

This isn't unfair. Think about the whole picture and this actually is better for Froch and Abraham by further pressuring the Andre's to finish this thing. If the WBC is guaranteeing the eliminator, the emergent Andre would have to dump the BC belt or take the fight. In the former, they lose mad face. In the latter, the Froch-Abraham winner still pays the same in sanc fees and gets a shot at the same two belts they would anyways.Comment

The odd part about this is that it makes too much sense. The best fighter in the division ends up with the belt. We rarely see that in boxing anymore.Comment

Ward already beat Kessler, and Dirrell already beat Abraham and arguably Froch as well.
This is a good move by the WBC.Comment

Do you think it was fair that Ward has all his fights in Oakland? This isn't unfair. Some shady stuff has been happening that favors the two Americans.Comment
