Though I’d gone on record a few weeks back saying I was far more irritated that Antonio Margarito was getting a catch-weight title fight than with the idea he was fighting at all, sometimes with age comes wisdom.

Or in this case… living with a smart spouse named Danielle comes wisdom.

Driving back from a fruitless trip to a Gulf beach, a 45-minute chat with my lady of nearly five years – a sports fan with multiple fantasy football championships and one press-row fight credential to her credit, by the way – showed that when it comes to the Tijuana Tornado’s worthiness to return to the sport, one of us had it right all along.

And it sure as heck wasn’t me.

While his Nov. 13 match with Manny Pacquiao at Cowboys Stadium looks destined to end in a fashion similar to his January 2009 meeting with Shane Mosley – it now says here that the Mexican-born ex-welterweight king doesn’t even deserve the chance to get his face kicked in courtesy of the soon-to-be Filipino flyweight turned junior middleweight. Thank you Lyle, at least ONE writer is been honest and not swayed by the force of HYPE, Market Value or any other purpose that will drive a writer to GO WITH THE FLOW. Thank you for "rocking the boat" with truth.

The integrity of Boxing has taken a great blow here, and at the end one year suspension was a slap on the risk considering all the damage He could of done to Mosley and all the damage I believe He inflict to Miguel Cotto on his brutal ring assault.
The best evidence is the lack of punching power after that fight and most boxing followers know what happend by circustancial evidence.
No plasters, no power.. not even close.

I think Margarito's sentence should of been given should of been some where in between 5 yrs to Live banned from the sport He deceived.
    Again,
Thank you Sir for rocking the boat with TRUTH.

You love making stuff up don't you!

He was not found "not liable", as you claim. First, they didn't give a verdict on whether he knew about the plaster or not, but they said that it was irrelevant because a fighter is always responsible for the actions of his trainer. (Just as it is no defence for an athlete on PEDs to claim they didn't know what their trainer was up to, the same is true in the case of plaster).

Second, they didn't give him a one year suspension - they suspended him indefinitely but for a minimum of a year. They said he could reapply for a licence after a year but stated explicitly that there was no guarantee that his application would be successful.

And finally, almost no one who knows anything about boxing believes it is credible that he didn't know that his trainer was putting something illegal in his wraps.

Go back to your fictional land of make believe. This forum is for people who live in the real world.

That's my whole point. Plaster is far more dangerous than PEDs, and PEDs are far more dangerous than hitting after the bell, etc. Which is why the punishment for hitting after the bell etc. is disqualification at worst, and often just a warning; whereas the punishment for PEDs is usually a 6 month suspension, and the punishment for plaster is usually a lifetime ban. But you said that how dangerous the crime is was irrelevant - you said that anything that is illegal and dangerous, regardless of how dangerous it is, should be treated as equally serious and given the same punishment. And by that logic, headbutts and hitting after the bell, and PEDs and plaster should all be given the same punishment, because they are all illegal, and are all potentially dangerous. But as you've admitted in your latest post, that would clearly be ridiculous. So you've just owned yourself with the above post.
