Boxing Vs MMA - The real test of skill

If everyone is so dedicated to see how a boxer and MMA fighter would fare against eachother on an EVEN playing field - Here is an idea on how it should be set up..

This is pure sport and both rules will apply...
    3x - 4 min rounds...
    1 minute rest
Pride Style Ring with MMA Gloves of course (No Cage)
Each round will be divided up between Boxing Rules (10 Count) and MMA rules (Tap out/KO)..

Round 1 - Whichever style goes first will be determined during the negotiations.

0-59 Seconds - Boxing Rules (forcing the mma fighter to survive on his feet)
1:00 - 1:59 - MMA Rules (forcing the Boxer survive the ground onslaught)
    2:00 - 2:59 - Boxing Rules
    3:00 - 4:00 - MMA Rules

    Round 2

Same as above but switch the order to MMA goes first.

Round 3 - If the fight goes to the 3rd round then.

The order will be determined prior to the fight by a coin toss..

I feel this would truly depict who would win on an even playing field and there would be no excuses to follow...This would not be difficult to constuct because the amount of time it takes to stand fighters up is a matter of seconds.. They could have a specific bell to signal the ref to change the styles...

James lasted well over a minute on the ground, i would've liked to see if Randy could've survived 1 minute standing up...

Just an idea to mix styles without so many advantages..

Boxing first with 4 oz gloves? No favouritism there is there?

I only put it first for visual sake - It can go either way based on the negotiations... I put that in there...???

MMA is an even playing field. What you're proposing is basically a handicap for the MMA fighter. A boxer can throw punches in MMA but only if he has the footwork/takedown defense to keep it standing.

Like it's been discussed, Boxing and MMA are two totally different sports

Boxing is to MMA as NFL is to Arena League.

MMA is an even playing field since every fighting style can be represented.

Did ju jitsu guys ask for special rules?

Did wrestlers ask for special rules?

Did Karate or kickboxers ask for special rules?

So why should a boxer get special rules?

            Dumb ***ing thread!!!

Exactly! Saturday was a display of boxing vs wresting. The wrestler won.

I heard Lebron James wants a hoop attached to the field goal posts in the case the Dolphins may need a Tight End or WR.

MMA is more like a street fight where everything is legal, or almost legal There's no limits or disiplines like we have in Boxing. Boxing is the toughest because you only have your fist to use and a limited area to connect. No back hand, no rabbit punches, NO HUGGING no contact. Boxing is the pure sport while MMA is just a cage to fight.
