If Amstrong would have beating Ceferino Garcia for a MW title....no one would care that Homecide Hank already beat him decisively when they were WW's. Also no one cares that Roy beat arguable one of the worst HW champion in the history of the sport (John Ruiz)....just that Roy went up and captured the HW title to make history.

After people saw JCC, Roy Jones, Whitaker, Holyfield, they realized how good he really was. The people who under-appreciated him when he was still active regretted how ungrateful they were for having had the privilege of watching him live.

Duran was a different story. He was already ranked equal to Benny Leonard as one of the two greatest lightweights ever even before fighting Leonard and the others. He was forgiven for his losses at the higher weights because he wasn't supposed to be fighting people that big.

Well said. No one cares Leonard beat Kalule for his second belt or that he beat Lalonde for his simultaneous winning of the super middle and light heavy titles at a catch weight. Only that he won 5 titles.

When Pac planned to assault the Feather weight and SFW legends of MAB, EM & JMM, Many doubt if he could achieved it. Winning against them makes him the Greatest Asian Fighter of all time.

Pac doesn't need Floyd to improve his legacy. Besides, once he beats him, the haters would just discredit the win by calling it a win against a proven coward - and they would be right. A Pac victory over Floyd would be a win against a top 40 ATG fighter. No better than the win against Barrera.

Pacquiao will probably never be # 1, but he will probably make the top 2 or 3 with Muhammad Ali once all the dust has settled.
