since when did being the champ make u the best? Im sorry but prime Jones would sweep the floor with DM...Ur just hanging on the sack cuz ur from england or whatever...Originally posted by McKayMy logic is that Michalczewski was the champion and Jones was not. Hence Jones was not even the best Lt Heavy of his era. It is really quite fact of the matter. I dont how this can cause any confusion.
Unless you count the IBO title for more than the Ring Magazine and Linear titles. Michalczewski being the champion, the burden of concessions would have been on Jones. If Roy Jones actually fought for the purpose to attain greatness he would have fought Michalczewski on the champion's terms.
Roy Jones never had a single pro fight outside the United States. Michalczewski fought in Germany, Poland, and Portugal. Most great fighters of the past left the United States to fight. Ali fought in the Phillipines, Switzerland. Tyson fought frequently in Japan, he fought in Denmark, not that Tyson was a great fighter. But Jones excuse of not wanting fight except in the US is very lame.

Dariusz was an overrated who never fought nobody but bums and has been. That idiot McKay keep saying Dariusz was the champions, who do you think you foolin. Roy Jones beat Hopkins and Toney while Darius fought bums and has been. And please the best fighters come to America to fight not Germany. If Dariusz really want to prove his worth he should be the one that came after Roy Jones. Ring Magazine placed Roy Jones one of of the top 80 boxers in the past 80 years, Dariusz next to never. That explains it.Comment

hmm
LOL @ those who think Roy is gettin easily stopped by all those guys. Whatever dude. Get those recent mages of Roy out of your head. Those do NOT define him at ALL.
Anyway...it's a hard question to answer. It depends on your criteria. Usually my criteria leans more towards who would beat who as opposed to what they accomplished, but I use both. Based on who would beat who, Jones has the best chance to beat all of those lightheavies. Prime for prime, Roy was so fast and too hard to hit. None of those fighters would look as good vs Roy as they did other opponents. Roy ain't no **** Tiger or Larry Holmes; he is way more mobile than those guys. You aren't just going to come in and pole ax a guy like that.Comment

He did not beat Hopkins and Toney at light heavyweight fool. And he "beat" Toney on like his worst knight ever. Montell Griffin beat that version of Toney Deux times. Michalczewski stopped Griffin inside of 4 rounds. So I guess not everybody he fought was bums eh.Originally posted by SliqueJabDariusz was an overrated who never fought nobody but bums and has been. #2 ******est comment ever after Roy Jones Jr being the greatest Lt Heavyweight ever. Being paper champion dont make you the best. But being the true champ like Michalczewski indeed does. That is why they are called the CHAMP.Originally posted by Bad Intentionssince when did being the champ make u the best?Comment

Ha ha ha ha. Griffin ain't a bum but he was a never was. So Dariusz beat bums, has been and never was. My point is Roy Jones dominated both Hopkins and Toney who are one of the greatest boxers in this era before he moved up and went to safety mode. The big difference was Dariusz never beaten any fighter that were on the same breath with Toney and Hopkins so he never proven anything and he went to safety mode too knocking out bums, has been and never was to promote his sorry azz. All that belt and all that crap, the end had justified the means. Ring MAgazine place Roy Jones as one of the top 80 boxers of the past 80 years, one of top 100 greatest punchers, while Darius was a sorry fake linear champ and only idiot like you retrieve him from obscurity.Comment

As far as accomplishments go, Roy shouldn't be mentioned as a top 3 lightheavyweight of all time. But talent-wise and from what we saw in the ring, he was an awesome fighter that we have never seen before. Roy is definately a special fighter, and we will probably never see a fighter like him again.Comment
