Here is my take on the whole situation.
Roy Jones Jr was BY FAR the better fighter than DM and most likely would have boxed his way to a UD if they ever fought eachother.
But that does not change the fact that DM was 10x more deserving of a shot than 99% of the guys Jones fought at LightHeavy.
Roy probably would have won, but he should have fought him.Comment

What cards did Roy Jones hold?
DM drew bigger crowds. A fight with DM in Europe would have been much much bigger than a fight with DM in the states.Comment

Only thing was Jones was the PPV King for a while. The two most popular PPV fighters of recent were Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.Originally posted by joseWhat cards did Roy Jones hold?

Huh?????
Roy Jones couldn't draw flies. His PPV numbers are downright laughable. Roy only went over 500,000 buys 1 time and that was against Ruiz.
The two biggest draws of the past 20 years are Tyson and DLH hands down.Comment

Originally posted by Tarver is my dadAs far as accomplishments go, Roy shouldn't be mentioned as a top 3 lightheavyweight of all time. But talent-wise and from what we saw in the ring, he was an awesome fighter that we have never seen before. Roy is definately a special fighter, and we will probably never see a fighter like him again.
: Roy in his prime at middle, super middle and light heavy would have been unbeatable in any era. Just a phenomenal talent. But his accomplishments at any of those weight divisions don't compare with the all time greats...

MultiChannel.com for all PPV sale numbers.
HBO Pay-Per-View's March 1 John Ruiz-Roy Jones Jr. heavyweight-championship PPV event drew a surprising 525,000 buys.
Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield, DLH, Chavez, Morales, Tito were all bigger draws than Roy Jones.Comment
