The best fighters comes to America to fight not Germany. I don't know why some people think Roy Jones should have gone to Germany to fight that Dariusz who was beating bums, has beens and never were fighters. The last time Roy Jones fought outside America, he experienced one of the worst robbery in Olympic sports.

I'm not bashing Roy, but to say he would make quick work of Spinks,Moore and Charles is crazy.

those three guys had power, skills and heart. Jones was great, but lets not go overboard. I've watched every Jones fight and he was great no doubt, but I would put him below those three.

I wouldn't call Jones the best LH ever, but he was definitely towards the top.

          Archie Moore probably the best.

            hmm

Yes, I've lived to watch Roy fight and I would never say he would make quick work of those guys. Those were all-time great fighters, along with Roy.

I just dont know if they could handle his type of fighter, it wasnt common to see a fighter like him in any era.

Spink's top wins at 175 were marvin johnson, eddie mustafa, mustafa wassaja and dwight qawi. Roy's top wins at 175 were virgil hill, clinton woods, tarver and griffen. They should be considered even. Is spinks held in a higher regard cuz he went to heavyweight and beat larry holmes and cooney?

Weird and fascinating thread, I've read all seven pages with a kind of horror.

It's extraordinary to see some posters making incredibly simple, obvious statements and those statements being blatantly misunderstood by those who respond to them.

As for RJJ, I just can't get my head round how people can rate him based largely on what he could have done. Roy Jones looked the bomb, but to say that he could have beat Archie Moore based on watching him beat Richard Frazier and Clinton Woods is the sort of thing you'd say when you've had too much crack. Maybe he COULD. The bottom line is, nothing in his career proved conclusively he was an all-time elite fighter, so warrant the recognition on "might have beens". No free passes in boxing.

Michael Nunn was his mandatory for years, and would of beaten him.
