Top ten greatest, no doubt, Tyson has almost replaced Muhammed Ali, as the face of boxing. That alone males him one of the greatest, fan favorites are the real legends anyway.

Ali was hated in his time, Tyson was loved, in a few more years some might begin to remenber Tyson more, as the legend grows.

ali was hated at the beginning of his career, and loved at the end. Tyson was loved in the beginning, then lost the respect of everyone at the end of his career

In the end, ali is the better fighter, better champion and better person

I don't think the legend will grow. The average person thinks Tyson is a barbaric ear-biting rapist monster. He might have an insanely inflated bad reputation like Michael Jackson. It's very hard to build legendary status, but it's very easy to destroy it. Most people will remember Tyson as the man that went to jail for ****, and then bit a chunk off a guy's ear in the ring.

Ali's career went the other way. He started off hated by the public, but when he made his comeback, he completely turned his image around. He beat quality opponents, and won over a lot of people. Tyson's career is almost completely reverse to Ali's. They both had several years hiatus from boxing, but where Ali excelled in his return, Tyson crashed and burned.

I agree, i told a good female friend of mine that Tyson was one of my favorite fighters ever and she struggled to understand why i like a "psycho" who bit someones ear, which lead to an hour long discussion about "style", Mikes style from 84-90 is one of the most brutally vicious, effecient and accurate displays of boxing this world will ever see.

Mike Tyson never defeated a HEAVYWEIGHT of any consequence in his career. Sure, he KO’d Spinx for the title, but lets not forget Spinks was a natural light heavyweight. Aside from Spinx, who else was there that he defeated that worth worth a crap? Bonecrusher Smith? Please.

The “good” heavyweights of Tyson’s time all beat him, and beat him soundly. Does anyone remember the Ear Eating Contest with Holyfield? How about the supposed Brit with the glass jaw that absolutely destroyed Tyson?

Why people would even fathom Tyson being one of the all-time greats is beyond me. Sure he had power in both hands and was very aggressive. His defense was average, due to his head movement. His conditioning was horrible, along with a non-existent jab or any counterpunching ability. Also, Tyson had a chin like a 6 year old.

I’m sorry to say, but the people who love Tyson and think he was God’s gift to the heavyweight division really need to go back and watch the fights and especially WHO he fought. They might actually reconsider their argument.

How ironic for mike, boxer's greatness is influenced by the way they behave outside the ring. true isn't it
