As we all know, Chad Dawson was upset by Pascal this past weekend, so he's no longer an undefeated fighter. Does that mean he sucks? Was he "overrated"?, "exposed" even? The answwer to all those questions are no!
Thanks to MayweatherJr., nowadays people tend to write a boxer off after his first defeat, one tends to think of Miguel Cotto.
Given, Dawson did not give the type of performance that would earn any new fans. He was laxidasical and unfocused, he (and his team) overlooked his opponent and paid for it...simple.
But does anyone remember Sugar Ray Leonard's first defeat,Lennox Lewis getting Ko'd, losing his "0", how about Roy's first blemish, hell, Pascal's first loss? Does anyone remember what these guys accomplished afterwards?
So while Dawson has suffered his first loss(and title), he hasnt lost his skill, talent, hunger or respect in my book, hopefully what he has gained is perspective and a rude awakening.
As they say in the NFL..."On any given Sunday", well the same mentality applies to boxing, one nite to prove who's better. So hats off to Jean Pascal, enjoy it while you can.
He lost to a guy who sucks, period. He failed to adapt and because of that he ended up losing to a guy he was never supposed to lose to. He's almost 30, he should be in his prime so we all saw prime Chad Dawson losing to a Canadian fighter who nobody cares about. Sad part is Chad could and should have won had he risked more early, going forward and not taking two eternities to acquire his target, like he did in the 11th.

Not to be compared with Mayweather who's 33 years of age and whilst in his prime, was whooping the likes of Corrales, Hernandez, Castillo, Hatton and Hoya, just to mention a few, left and right.

Most great fighters start losing once they hit their 30's or vs great competition or both. Chad didn't even try to get out of a gameplan which wasn't working to try and win his fight until the 11th. Not only did he lose but he deserved to lose.
Then he acted like a ***** calling Pascal a runner.

Thats why I love boxing so much! A superior boxer has an off night or whatever and loses, even tho he was 60 sec(imo!)away from putting the guy away. In other sports when you're being blown out, U have to have a sustained run to get back in the game. In boxing one punch or rd can turn the whole thing around, I call those instances 20 pointers....lol

And can we please stop making this about Floyd Mayweather jr.?
I mean really, All I was refering to was a certain mentality that bandwagoners have. Tho I am very familiar with Mayweather's accomplishments, my comment(one singular comment! lol) had nothing to do with his resume or exploits in or out of the ring...
        Thank You

People here like to talk down on brawlers and volume punchers like they're just amateur fighters. If a roughhouse style wins for a guy, so be it. Dawson is no less of a fighter just for losing to Pascal, he was just the lesser man in the ring that night. And Pascal didn't beat him throwing haymakers, he showed some good movement and flurries in the fight. Dawson faltered late when Pascal tired and there was a chance for him to turn up the heat, but that's probably because he was fighting an uncomfortable fight the whole way. Everybody who loses gets hit with the exposed/overrated tag around here. Dawson just lost, nothing more to it than that.

I still think Dawson's the best but unfortunately He has to wait for another opportunity to prove it. I dont think he'll make the same mistake vs cloud which I hope is his next fight if Pascal goes on to fight Bute. I wish that they would have an immediate rematch due to the fight being stopped under those circumstances but financially team Pascal has a HUGE event in the all canada showdown.
Your rite money talks nowadays you back in the gloden era of boxing they would have fought again immediately..But Dawson fight Cloud is dangerous Pascal was hitting Dawson way to easy.Cloud hits like a mack truck very dangerous fight for Dawson IMO..

Well Im charging it to dawson overlooking his opponent. I think cloud himself takes to many shots, while it being an interesting fight I dont think Cloud can hang with Dawson. But as pascal showed anything can happen once you get in that ring.

A more focused Dawson beats Pascal anyday of the week. When the rematch happens you'll find Dawson the victor. Trust.
