I Love How Once A Boxer Loses He's Trash

    Yadda Yadda Yadda..........
As we all know, Chad Dawson was upset by Pascal this past weekend, so he's no longer an undefeated fighter. Does that mean he sucks? Was he "overrated"?, "exposed" even? The answwer to all those questions are no!
Thanks to MayweatherJr., nowadays people tend to write a boxer off after his first defeat, one tends to think of Miguel Cotto.
Given, Dawson did not give the type of performance that would earn any new fans. He was laxidasical and unfocused, he (and his team) overlooked his opponent and paid for it...simple.
But does anyone remember Sugar Ray Leonard's first defeat,Lennox Lewis getting Ko'd, losing his "0", how about Roy's first blemish, hell, Pascal's first loss? Does anyone remember what these guys accomplished afterwards?
So while Dawson has suffered his first loss(and title), he hasnt lost his skill, talent, hunger or respect in my book, hopefully what he has gained is perspective and a rude awakening.
As they say in the NFL..."On any given Sunday", well the same mentality applies to boxing, one nite to prove who's better. So hats off to Jean Pascal, enjoy it while you can.

let's blame everything on floyd mayweather jr.!!! and i mean EVERYTHING! matter of fact, floyd is the reason dawson lost AND the reason pascal won!
when he said chad dawson is the best boxer pound for pound while he was retired, it made chad stick to his boxing even though he was clearly behind considering the fight's location.
watching old floyd fights also had pascal dance around the ring after throwing in spurts. it's the pot shot strategy, just pascal used an advanced form that utilizes combinations!
now that dawson is trash after losing, it must be floyd's fault because mayweather always brags that he's undefeated and nobody can beat him and that he works harder than everyone else and no one can get through his defense, etc.

well we can blame floyd...or we can see that this is no one's fault but delusional fans. this is further supported by the old saying: you're only as good as your last fight.

you summarized how dawson looked in his last fight. sticking to what works is why he came in undefeated. an inability to turn it up and bare his teeth is why he didn't leave that way. hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.

of course, dawson will be back. just about every elite fighter has lost and it often just serves as inspiration as long as the damage recieved wasn't terrible. i expect to see more of the 11th round dawson than the one on the defensive as if trying to protect that '0'.

on a side note, andre berto hasn't been beaten and people already think he's trash.

I don't think it's about losing it's about how you lose..Look Devon won his fight last week but really lost right? It's about your performance..IMO Dawson did not look bad and look like he was on his way to stopping Pascal before the fight was called..He just showed a big flaw tho which is he does not really have the killer instinct he needs to handle fighters like Cloud and Pascal..But if they fought again I believe Dawson would win..How do you see a Cloud Dawson fight Playing out now??

                Basically.............

Especially after that left hook he landed late in the fight that had Pascal looking like he was waiting for a Bus.

Good point! But the fact of the matter is the Dawson camp as a whole, slept on Pascal, I dont think it was a case of Pascal having Dawson's #. I still think Dawson's the best but unfortunately He has to wait for another opportunity to prove it. I dont think he'll make the same mistake vs cloud which I hope is his next fight if Pascal goes on to fight Bute. I wish that they would have an immediate rematch due to the fight being stopped under those circumstances but financially team Pascal has a HUGE event in the all canada showdown.

it wasn't about floyd. it was about misplaced blame. as in, there was no need to have floyd mayweather in your post.

any blame here is on the fighters and the fans. which is what the second part of my post is about.

another phrase that applies to the current situation is: pessimism wins in the end.

many posters on nsb love to say that they saw it coming when all they've really been saying is this or that fighter is overrated because...they then feel a fighter losing has verified all of their previous complaints.
